The Institute of Science, Natural Resources and Outdoor Studies is one of five Institutes within the University. It is a busy and vibrant Institute which has strong links with a number of professional bodies and employers which is reflected in the high level of employment our students enjoy. The Institute is split across two sites, Ambleside and Carlisle, to suit the academic portfolio and delivery needs of the programmes. The academic portfolio provides a range of undergraduate programmes including Outdoor Leadership, Outdoor Education, Geography, Forestry and a range of Conservation programmes at our Ambleside Campus and Biomedical Science, Forensic Science, Microbiology and Zoology at our Carlisle Campus. Additionally, we have a developing postgraduate taught provision and a growing postgraduate research community. Our Forestry programmes are delivered from Ambleside campus in the Heart of the Lake District National Park and UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Lecturer in Forestry with require experience of forest and woodland management and strong links to the sector, preferably with Professional Membership of the Institute of Chartered Foresters. We would particularly welcome applications from candidates with experience of forestry operation, forestry policy and GIS. You will join a successful, practical and research-driven teaching team with a reputation for innovation in course design and development. The National School of Forestry situated with the Institute has been at the forefront of forestry education for 50 years, delivering professional forestry courses at undergraduate and post-graduate level and currently recruits a quarter of the UK full time under-graduate applications in Forestry. We have developed an industry reputation for highly employable graduates. We are keen to continue developing our portfolio of courses to meet the needs of the profession in this country and internationally; responding to social, economic and environmental forces in the forestry sector.
