Created around the Jamaican beachside home of James Bond creator, Sir Ian Fleming, the resort offers low-key yet sophisticated accommodation in an idyllic and secluded setting. This one-bed villa is the perfect romantic hideaway – a traditional Caribbean cottage with jalousie windows yet refined with modern comforts. Designed with indoor/outdoor living in mind, at the front of the villa is a huge verandah – a wonderful spot to relax and listen to the sound of exotic birdsong and the waves gently lapping the soft golden sand. Stroll through the door into this simple, yet elegantly designed living area complete with a Queen-size daybed decorated with colourful batik-patterned cushions and a comfortable armchair. The adjacent kitchen area has everything you could need, being well-equipped with a retro-style Smeg fridge, fully stocked with chilled drinks, and a stylish Italian-designed oven and stovetop. Music lovers will appreciate the selection of Island Records tracks included with the sound system, and there is a television in the living area and in the bedroom if you even get around to turning it on. At the rear of the villa is the bedroom, which can be separated by a curtain, with its custom-made King-size bed, fitted with luxurious 400-thread count bedlinen, elegant writing desk and en-suite bathroom. Lie back in the large, claw-foot bath for a soothing soak, or choose to head outside into the romantic outdoor bathroom, where you can revel in an indulgent open-air shower in complete privacy, surrounded by lush plants. Outside the wonderful verandah ensures outdoor living in comfort, with a dining table and chairs, and comfortable padded loungers. A ceiling fan complements the cooling sea breeze. Most flights arrive in Montego Bay, 73 miles to the west, but for guests arriving by private jet, the resort has its own airport – Ian Fleming International. Famous as the writer’s island home, Goldeneye – and this stretch of spectacular coastline, with its secret coves and lush jungle – provided the inspiration for the James Bond stories, and it is still a stunningly beautiful and romantic place, evoking a magical era of glamour and sophistication. Music lovers will want to pay a visit to the Bob Marley Museum. Housed in the Marley’s former home, it pays tribute to the legendary musician with an interesting collection of his prized possessions on display and a theatre where a short film tells the story of his life.
