Kemer Kemer is a seaside resort and district of Antalya Province on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey, 40 km (25 mil) west of the city of Antalya, on the Turkish Riviera. Kemer is on the Gulf of Antalya, 53 km (33 mi) of sea coast with the skirts of the western Taurus Mountains behind. The coast has the typical Mediterranean hot, dry weather and warm sea. Until the early 1980s this was a quiet rural district but today the town of Kemer and coastal villages in the district play a very important part in tourism in Turkey. Tourism in Kemer One of the major attractions of Kemer is its natural beauty; sea, mountains and pine forest combine in harmony. The shore from Beldibi to Tekirova consists of unspoilt beaches in bays of various sizes, mostly stony rather than sand. With easy transportation, good communication and other municipal services Kemer has a large proportion of the hotel bed capacity of the Antalya region, and is a comfortable and peaceful holiday coast with internationally accepted reputation, attracting large numbers of visitors from countries such as Germany, the Netherlands, and in recent years predominantly families from Russia. Many of the visitors come as part of low-cost all- inclusive package deals but tourism is still the mainstay of the local economy. There are so many visitors that most shops in Kemer are set up to sell things like leather jackets to overseas visitors and trade in the euro as well as the Turkish lira. Kemer's 320 berth marina offers several restaurants for the tourists as well as being an important wintering-over marina for live aboard sailors from the IBSA EUROPEAN B2/3 FUTSAL EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP 09-17 DECEMBER 2016 USA, England and most of Europe. Göynük (Goynuk) Canyon, Ulupinar, Olympos, Chimaera, Phaselis, Three Islands and Eco Park are the touristics sites of the Kemer area. The town of Kemer is vibrant with clubs, bars and restaurants, blue flag beaches and a 320 capacity yacht marina. Popular coastal villages include Beldibi, Çayova, Aslanbucak, Kuzdere, Beycik, Çamyuva, Göynük. Annual events in the area include art exhibitions in Phaselis, boat races, WRC (World Rally Championship), Turkey Offshore Championship, Turkey Motocross Championship, Phaselis Art Festival, and Kemer Carnival. International pop stars and Djs, such as Tarkan and DJ Tiesto, give summer concerts on this coast. The Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey is a professional road bicycle racing stage race held each spring. In the last years there is rising number of outdoor enthusiasts visiting Kemer for trekking the Lycian Way and for mountain biking. • Olympian Triad
136 Olympian Triad J G R Harcling Plates 57-fJO Part I-Winter Olympus! The very name evokes imagery, divinity and soaring aspiration 'Altius' of the Olympic motto. Certainly, no other mountain in classical consciousness had a greater wealth of mythological and poetic association. And this was due in part to the religious conceptions of Ancient Greece in whose cosmography the world was created as a disc with Greece its centre and Mount Olympus-touching heaven and synonymous with it-the apex; in part to its poets and particularly Homer, the literary protagonist of the Olympians. Homer's Olympus was an imaginary paradise 'not shaken by winds, nor wet with rains, nor touched with snow'. The reality is a formidable mountain, snow-bound for six months of the year. But then, the Ancient Greeks had no real sympathy for mountains or mountain scenery. According to the Protago rean ethic, man was the measure of all things and humanism the dominant philosophy. The gods who inhabited Olympus were themselves a reflection of Man. For the Greeks the magic of the mountains was not scenic but rather their association with the spirits of nature and particularly the Oreads-nymphs whose task it was to guide the weary traveller through the dreary upland wastes. Although Homer's Olympus was more a concept than a reality, the mountain which is indisputably identified as the home of the Gods from which Zeus despatched his thunderbolts is the great massif rising almost 3000m from the shores of the Gulf of Thermae. From time immemorial it has been an obstacle to invaders moving down from Macedonia to the plains of Thessaly and on this high stage were enacted numberless mythological dramas.

  • Golfin Antalya
Golf in Antalya Golf in Belek Belek, one of Antalya’s most popular holiday centres, has become not only a brand name in Turkey, but one of the most popular holiday destinations in the world thanks to its unsurpassed natural beauty and perfect climate. Located 30 kilometers from Antalya, Belek has a seventeen-kilometer coastline lined with numerous five star hotels. Since the early 1990s, Belek has offered its guests the most comfortable holiday opportunity in the Mediterranean. Among the features that make Belek such an attractive location in the region is its ease of access and the ancient cities situated nearby. The region hosted numerous civilisations throughout its thousands of years of history, and with its fertile lands has been a centre of attention in every period. Though Belek has a typical Mediterranean climate, the freshwater streams which flow from the slopes of the Taurus Mountains give it different characteristics than other Mediterranean locations. Thanks to its large sand dunes, its beaches are sheltered from the harsh effects of the sea and wind. With all these features in place, Belek offers a magnificent atmosphere, not only as a tourism centre, but as an area that contains all the distinctive Mediterranean characteristics. For many years now, Belek has been one of the foremost holiday destinations for sports tourism in our country. It owes its preeminent position in this regard to its climate, geographical location and undeniably to its committed implementation of sustainable tourism policies. Belek and its hotels are highly popular with sports clubs and cater to their needs across all sports year-round.

  • Western Lycian Way – Group Guided
Western Lycian Way – Group Guided Summary This Small Group Guided Itinerary cherry picks the best walks of the Western End of the Lycian Way and adds some stunning high mountain walks that will also give you the chance to meet and enjoy the company of the Nomadic Yörük people. We will walk on the coast, across grazing lands and through orchards and above the tree-line close to the snow- capped mountains (Ak Dağ) near Gömbe. This really is the best walking, history and culture that Western Lycia has to offer. The itinerary has a good deal of historical content and includes a boat trip over the sunken city of Kekova. We will also visit the three cities that at different times were the capital of the Lycian League. These are Xanthos the first capital, Patara the home of the Lycian Parliament building and Myra the bishopric of Saint Nicholas the source of much of the santa Claus legends. If nature is your “thing” then you will love the crystal blue waters where we can often see turtles in Kekova and Dalyan, the wetlands that are home to resident and migrating birds, the coast and coastal towns which host hundreds of storks and the rugged, mountainous terrain where eagles and buzzards soar. You will almost certainly find myriad lizards, the ubiquitous wild tortoises and occasional snakes. The wild flowers, particularly in spring are absolutely stunning. Turkey has over 9,000 species of flora of which 40% is endemic. If your idea of a great walking holiday is a good solid walking programme steeped in history, culture and nature, then you need look no further.
