Little, Brown and Company LITTLE, BROWN AND COMPANY SEPTEMBER 2OO9 THROUGH MARCH 2O1O LITTLE, BROWN • BACK BAY BOOKS • REAGAN ARTHUR BOOKS • ORBIT Dear friends, Two new logos make their debut in the life of Little, Brown this season. On the catalog cover you’ll see a new logo for Little, Brown and Company, our fi rst in more than 50 years. Our beloved old logo, an image of Boston’s Bulfi nch monument, struggled to be visible at the sizes required by many modern uses. Th e graphic artist Lance Hidy created the vivid, typewriter key–based logo you see: highlighting the company’s founders’ initials, honoring the writing process that is the source of all our endeavors, and featuring a classic look to suggest our long history. We are thrilled by its simplicity, strength, and adaptability, and I hope you will come to look to it as an imprimatur of quality writing, bookmaking, and publishing. On page 39 you will see the beautiful logo of Reagan Arthur Books. Reagan Arthur, in case you haven’t met her, is one of the most astute, admired, and eff ective (and relentlessly charming!) editors in publishing today. In less than 10 years she has brought us many of Little, Brown’s most brilliant and bestselling writers: Kate Atkinson, Josh Bazell, Kate Braestrup, Joshua Ferris, Elin Hilderbrand, Kathleen Kent, Elizabeth Kostova, Denise Mina, George Pelecanos, Ian Rankin, Dan Simmons, and many, many others. Her name has come to signify great writing that sells. We are honored to place that name on our books and excited to see all the superb writers she will bring out in the years ahead. Her imprint’s logo was designed by Little, Brown Senior Art Director Keith Hayes. Please join us in celebrating the launch of Reagan Arthur Books! AVALON PUBLIC RELATIONS PRESS INFORMATION DAVE GORMAN’S IMPORTANT ASTROLOGY EXPERIMENT DAVE GORMAN’S IMPORTANT ASTROLOGY EXPERIMENT Every day millions of people consult their horoscopes. Is it wise to follow the advice of astrologers? The world of science has not been brave enough to answer this question. Until now. Step forward DAVE GORMAN (Pisces). He’s a multi award-winning comedian, but in this brand new series he’s also an ‘unorthodox experimental scientist’ on a real life comic adventure into the world of astrology. For 40 days and 40 nights DAVE GORMAN has given up normal life. Instead he has scoured the horoscopes of 20 leading astrologers. His task – to follow their advice. To ignore speculation, prediction and guesswork, but at all times to follow instruction and pursue luck. A control experiment, a man born at the same time and in the same place has ignored his horoscopes. Whose life will turn out better? Over six, thirty-minute episodes on BBC TWO, Dave will present the evidence to an astrologically balanced studio audience. Receiving help and guidance from three world-renowned, independent experts in the fields of Love, Health and Wealth – DENISE ROBERTSON (TV agony aunt and Gemini), HILARY JONES (TV doctor and Gemini) and ALVIN HALL (TV financial advisor and Cancer) – the audience will then vote on whether DAVE’S or the control’s life is turning out better. Whatever the result, we guarantee it will verify that, in DAVE’S world at least truth is stranger than fiction. Dave Gorman’s Important Astrology Experiment is a BBC Production.

The original reason for this compilation was because we wanted to find a fun way to help our patients continue their healing process between doctor or hospital visits, after accidents or traumas, or when they were going through challenging times and needed a boost. Or simply when they wanted to relax and feel good! Often, when we would recommend that they watch movies that made them feel good the response would be, “I don’t know any good movies” or “I can’t find any. What do you recommend?” The healing benefits of fun and laughter can be found in our e- book The P.L.A.Y.
