AUSTRALIAN SECURITIES EXCHANGE RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE General Manager 15 September 2011 The Company Announcements Office Australian Securities Exchange Electronic Lodgement System Dear Sir/Madam “PORT SPENCER” ADOPTED AS FORMAL NAME FOR CENTREX’S PROPOSED DEEPWATER PORT IN SA. • Port Spencer to replace former interim name of “Sheep Hill” for the Centrex deep-water bulk commodities export port northeast Port Lincoln on the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia. Centrex Metals Limited (“CMX”) is pleased to announce that “PORT SPENCER” will be the formal name for the Company’s proposed deep water marine port development on South Australia’s eastern Eyre Peninsula. Port Spencer, to be located between Tumby Bay and Port Neill on Eyre Peninsula, has been referred to by Centrex during initial planning for this new export focused infrastructure, as “Sheep Hill”. This reflected as an interim measure, the closest land mark in that coastal area as identified on marine charts. While “Sheep Hill” as a port site has become widely known, Centrex has been seeking a name that more appropriately in the longer-term, represents the port development’s significance to the region. Port Spencer will be a multi-user facility catering for the export of dry bulk commodities, including iron ore and grain. Centrex has initiated with the State Government, the process for formally assigning the new name to the port. The South Australian Government has already announced the method by which Centrex must address how it will develop Port Spencer, planned to be capable of accommodating Cape-size vessels primarily for bulk minerals and grain consignments. These matters will be assessed under a Public Environmental Report (PER) providing details of how the Company will manage its environmental, social and economic issues for the port. The report is expected to incorporate much of the scientific work that has been undertaken on the project since 2008. Centrex aims to submit the PER for public comment late this year. Community information sessions have already been held at Port Neill, Tumby Bay and Port Lincoln. Centrex has prepared a Stakeholder Response Report collating all of the questions raised by members of the community during the information sessions and the responses to those questions from Centrex. The Stakeholder Response Report can be found on Centrex’s website. Parsons Brinckerhoff has completed a design feasibility study. The feasibility study incorporates all site civil works, provision of services, roads and expected construction methodology for the site and jetty. This design work will be presented as part of the PER. Free Eyre, a consortium of Eyre Peninsula grain growers, has also joined the Centrex owners team as advisor and coordinator of grain related activities for the port feasibility and development.
