Some o f us didn’t know which wap to look in the mornings! The story o f any year begins with the first day of school. This year was no different. Everyday school life began with homeroom at 7:30 and the sometimes long days ended with 9th period at 2:30. Some students' days ended with 5th period, while others were here long after school was out. The long hours that students stayed after school were usually devoted to some special activity or sport, while for others, their one hour after school meant detention. Most days at Northland High School followed the same routine. Homeroom teachers kept their students quiet during morning announcements (most of the students were still asleep anyway) and teachers made sure their students were standing for our Na tional Anthem on Monday mornings. The first few periods o f the day found students still waking up and discussing their activities from the night before. By 4th period, most students were awake and getting hungry. The last periods o f the day could fly by or tick slowly along. Homework, tests, and studying kept most students busy especially after school. Sometimes hitting the books could be difficult, but the friends and good times always made up for it. Some people caught up on their sleep in study hall. 1^. lookii:- Marti/ people do their studies in the library. Some people bury themselues in their books. Yes, even guys study!! MAKING NEW FRIENDS. Valkyries is based on sticking together. Friends stop for a picture. Friends are a special part o f anyone’s life! . .BUT KEEPING THE OLD Friends are a large chapter in anyone’s life. To some, friends are people to have fun with, to sort out problems with, and to hue. To others, friends are a piece of them — something they could not live without. Friendships blossom in the early years of high school. Only the meaningful ones last past these years. Somehow, each and every one of us has found a part of ourselves in someone else. Whether we have the same interests or hobbies, or dislike the same things, friends are an important part of our high school years. Friends will always be there when we need them — whether it is a shoulder to cry on, or a joke we want to tell them. Friends are there to pick us up when we are falling and they understand and respect our opinions and values, even if they do not agree with their own. Somehow, friends have made us what we are today. We laugh and cry with them, learn to love with them, and find ourselves along with them. Seniors live for days like these! Couples are a very important part of any high school! Some people were made to be friends. ' > i / I - P ff" .1 ,'/ .-., ^ ' -f ■ - THA rs WHA T FRIENDS ARE FOR Some friendships hold secrets!! Friends have fun at Senior Picnic. That’s what friends are for. — Eric Bachrach — Special people share special moments during Homecoming. 11 One of the big chapters in a high school is spirit. And, as usual, the Vikings showed their enthusiasm and pride. Spirit Weeks were set aside before the Homecoming and Summer-Winter dances. The 50’s, twin, sweats, hat and sunglasses, nerd, and green and gold daps were all well represented; bobbp socks, flashp shades, and funnp clothes were just some of the different ideas. Most Fridays found the students either outside in the stadium or inside in the gym cheering on the various teams at Northland. During Pep Rallies, all students participated in cheers and getting rowdy. We even found out who had the biggest mouths, right Juniors? New uniforms? Pep rallies are always filled with spirit!
