Publicado por: Raiko Martín El tenis de mesa cubano estará presente en los venideros Juegos Olímpicos de Londres por intermedio de Andy Pereira, quien este martes aseguró el quinto y último boleto masculino para ese certamen, rifado en el Campeonato Latinoamericano que bajó sus cortinas en la brasileña Río de Janeiro. Después de dos intentos fallidos, Andy transitó toda la ruta hacia la ansiada clasificación que logró con una victoria de 4-0 sobre el mexicano Marcos Madrid, subcampeón en los Juegos Panamericanos de Guadalajara el pasado año. Antes de eso, el capitalino había dejado sin opciones al chileno Alejandro Rodríguez (4-1). Luego superó al colombiano Julián Ramos (4-0), al ecuatoriano y medallista continental Alberto Miño (4-1), y al dominicano Juan Vila (4-2) en semifinales. Igual suerte no corrieron los también cubanos Moisés Campos y Yohan Mora, quienes cayeron en la ronda de octavos de final. The XVII Pan American Games is held among athletes from nations of the Americas, once every 4 years. The last edition in 2011 was held in Guadalajara, Mexico. There are four gold medals on offer: men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s team and women’s team. The winners of the Men’s and Women’s Singles will qualify to compete at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
