“I chose to buy a share and breed several key mares of mine to ATREIDES after seeing the videos of his races … his gate might be the most efficient and fluid I’ve seen with such a long stride and way of carrying his head … his pedigree is quite exciting being by the elite sire MEDAGLIA d’ORO and a half to a Grade 1 millionaire out of a Grade 1 millionaire … When I saw ATREIDES’ sister DREAMING OF JULIA win by a stunning 22 lengths in the Gulfstream Oaks breaking the all time Thoro-Graph figures, THAT DID IT FOR ME!! The first foal of his was just born and the farm manager is beside himself on her conformation, size and athletic nature … in my opinion, ATREIDES may be the most undervalued and exciting new stallion in all of racing.”

MCCOY NEXT INJURED JOCKEYS PRESIDENT HENDERSON: VET/TRAINER Recently retired champion jumps jockey Sir Anthony McCoy NEXUS MUST BE BROKEN will take up the role of president of the Injured Jockeys Fund from John Francome. McCoy was previously vice patron of the fund, and that role will be taken over by Francome. "The Injured Jockeys Fund's work is so important to racing,” said McCoy. “Now I have retired I am really enthusiastic about taking on the role, as well as honoured to be asked, and just hope that I can add something to the fantastic work the Fund does in helping injured jockeys and their families." Francome added, "I have very much enjoyed my time as President since succeeding Lord Oaksey but when the opportunity arose for AP to take over it seemed sensible. It is important to keep younger people involved in the decision making and he will be much more in touch with today's jockeys."

Henderson is a co-owner of OTI Racing, which campaigns horses in Australia and Europe, as well as a few in the U.S. "From that experience racing in both hemispheres, I can tell you there's a large void between the practices of trainers and vets--and their respective relationship with each other--in Europe and Australia," he said. "On average, our vet bills in Australia are four times what they are in Europe,” Henderson continued. “It's a fact of life that many Australian trainers see veterinary services as an income stream in their businesses. It's not unusual for us to see a vet bill have 50% added to it when it comes through the trainer's account, and we're continually pulling up certain trainers on this aspect."
