Our goal is to provide a venue that brings together consignors and buyers to the benefit of both, and to strengthen and grow thoroughbred racing and breeding in the state of Ohio. We are excited to be hosting the sale at a new venue this year which is the Delaware County Farigrounds. This location is conveniently located in the center of the state and is easily accessible to get to. I would like to thank Director Daryl Duncan who has been the leader of our sales committee and all the other directors for their efforts to put on this sale. The Ohio HBPA has continuously given us their support and we hope the sale will put competitive horses in the hands of their organization’s train- ers and owners. The Ohio State Racing Commission have lent their as- sistance by helping to promote the sale through their various marketing platforms. In closing, I would like to thank all of the hard working volunteers who have stepped forward to dedicate their time and energy to this sale. The enthusiasm that have shown bodes well for future efforts to make our in- dustry stronger. We wish everyone an enjoyable experience through their participation in the sale. For res- idents of Lexington, Kentucky — even those not closely attuned to racing — the name Sir Barton has an addition- al connotation, and a local one. The street Sir Barton Way is prominent in a section of the city known as Hamburg. Therein lies an additional link with history, for Sir Barton sprung from the famed Thoroughbred farm also known as Hamburg Place, which occupied the same land a century ago. The colt Sir Barton was one of four Kentucky Derby winners bred at Hamburg Place by a master of the Turf, one John E. Madden. Like the horse’s name, the name Madden also has come down through the years in a milieu of lasting and regen- erating fame.
