The win was the sixth in 16 starts for the daughter of Include and the Proud Citizen mare Debutante Dreamer. Her first success in a graded stakes increased her earnings to $304,658. The 9-2 fourth choice in the field of six, Proud Emma paid $11.20 on a $2 win ticket while completing the mile-and-one-six- teenth in 1:42.40. Message finished second, six lengths clear of Stellar Sound, who rushed to battle for the lead and opened up two lengths after a half mile despite breaking last. “She ran great,’’ Kagele said. “We’ve been trying to get a grad- ed stakes with her and she finally did it for us today. She likes to sit off it and it set up very nicely for her. We were confident she would come running. She shows up everytime, but this was awe- some. We plan to keep her in training in 2021.’’ This was Hernandez’s first collaboration with Proud Emma, whose most recent win came when she finished in a dead heat with Message in the Tranquility Lake Stakes Aug. 28 at Del Mar. “[Miller] told me to just sit behind the speed and she’d give me a strong run. Los Alamitos Statement Regarding Horses Shipping In From Outside of Southern California During Los Angeles County Fair Meet Horses having been trained outside of Southern California coming to compete at the Los Al Meet must be placed in barns of trainers presently having horses in Southern California and must be placed under the exclusive care of a Southern California trainer and his/her personnel. The California Horse Racing Board has advised that when horses coming from outside of Southern California are entered to run at the Los Al Meet, the horse’s original trainer will be consid- ered for purposes of entry and in the racing program as the trainer and the trainer whose barn the horse is stabled will be reflected as the substituted trainer. As to a trainer having horses both in Southern California and at Golden Gates Fields, it is expected that such trainer will self-quar- antine in accordance with Center for Disease Control Guidelines if he/she has been exposed to Covid-19. In any event, trainers having been outside of Southern California during the month of November will be denied access to the Los Alamitos grounds in the absence of proof of a timely negative Covid-19 Test. Jockeys and valets who have not been riding/working at the Los Alamitos Quarter Horse Meet but have been working/riding in Southern California must present proof of a timely negative Covid-19 Test prior to participating/working at the Los Al Meet. Because of the existing circumstances, jockeys and valets at the Los Al Meet will be restricted to those who have been riding/working in Southern California. Los Alamitos existing protocols regarding Covid-19 will con- tinue to be strictly enforced. Those on the Los Alamitos grounds must wear face masks and practice social distancing. Admission to the grounds will continue to be subject to temperature checks and a health screening. Back to Top Back to Top Page 5 Bodexpress Retires BY BROCK SHERIDAN ______________________________ Bodexpress, the recent winner of the Grade 1 Clark Stakes presented by Norton Healthcare at Churchill Downs, has been retired from racing according to a tweet posted by trainer Gustavo Delgado late Sunday evening. “With great regret, we announce the retirement of Bodexpress. He suffered a career ending injury while winning the G1 Clark Handicap. A very talented colt, who finally showed his potential at CD. Thank you Bode for the journey & memories. To his fans, Thank you for your support!!!” the train- er said on his Twitter account. The 4-year-old son of Bodemeister out of Pied a Terre, by City Zip had several notable moments in his career including his qualification for the 2019 Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve (G1) as a maiden after finishing second to Maximum Security in the Curlin Florida Derby (G1) just prior to the Run for the Roses that year. He is also infamous for completing the course without the benefit of jockey John Velazquez in the 2019 Preakness Stakes (G1), after tossing the Hall of Fame rider shortly after the start. He won his first career race following a five-month break Bodexpress/COADY PHOTO after the Preakness when he took a maiden special weight by three lengths at Gulfstream Park West on Oct. 14, 2019. In his next start, he set the track record for a mile on the main track at the Miami Gardens, Fla., track while completing the distance in Holiday Toy Drive 1:35.58 on Nov. 20, 2019. He was also third in both the 2019 Harlan’s Holiday Stakes Donate Now – ends December 8 (G3) and in the 2020 Hal’s Hope Stakes (G3); and fifth in the $3 million, Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1) won by Mucho Gusto in January of 2020, all three of which were at Gulfstream Park. The consistent bay colt finished his career with four wins, four seconds and three thirds in 14 starts while earning $694,600 while competing many times against of the best of his class. Bodexpress raced for the partnership of Top Racing LLC, Global Thoroughbred and GDS Racing Stable and was bred in Kentucky by Martha Jane Mulholland. In a separate tweet, Delgado said Bodexpress is currently stabled on a farm in Ocala, Fla., while plans for a stallion career are being finalized.
