Over 1600 community members came out to spend the evening with the men and women of the San Pablo Police Department for some great food, family fun, and fabulous entertainment while building some neighborhood camaraderie.

Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all fifty states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August. Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and much, much more.

This year’s event marked the second year that San Pablo PD held National Night Out at our Community Center. Members of our Police De‑ partment and City Recreation Department, along with a number of volunteers helped serve over 1,000 root beer floats, and over 1,500 ham‑ burgers and hot dogs to our guests in attendance. Children were able to compete in a Ju‑ nior SWAT obstacle course, get some face-paintings, and meet San Pablo’s mascot, “Pablo” the K-9.

The National Night Out event continues to grow each and every year in San Pablo. More and more businesses, faith-based organizations, and community groups have volunteered to participate in the event by donating time, money, food, and raffle prizes. All of this helps strengthen police-community partnerships in order to make our neighborhoods a safer, more caring place to live.
