On 26 July 1985 we wrote to Bedfordshire County Council announcing our intention to undertake a review of the County under section 48{1) of the Local Government Act 1972. Copies of the letter were sent to the principal local authorities, and parishes, in Bedfordshire and in the surrounding counties of Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Northamptonshire; to the National and County Associations of Local Councils; to the Members of Parliament with constituency interests and to the headquarters of the main political parties. In addition, copies were sent to those government departments, regional health authorities, water authorities, and electricity and gas boards which might have an interest, as well as to British Telecom, the English Tourist Board, the local government press and to local television and radio stations serving the area. 2. The County Councils were requested, in co-operation as necessary with the other local authorities, to assist us in publicising the start of the review by inserting a notice for two successive weeks in local newspapers so as to give a wide coverage in the areas concerned. -

STATUTORY INSTRUMENTS 2002 No. 2984 LOCAL GOVERNMENT, ENGLAND The District of Huntingdonshire (Electoral Changes) Order 2002 Made ----- 2ndDecember 2002 Coming into force in accordance with article 1(2), (3) and (4) Whereas the Boundary Committee for England(a), acting pursuant to section 15(4) of the Local Government Act 1992(b), has submitted to the Electoral Commission(c) a report dated April 2002 on its review of the district of Huntingdonshire together with its recommendations: And whereas the Electoral Commission have decided to give eVect to those recommendations: And whereas a period of not less than six weeks has expired since the receipt of those recommendations: Now, therefore, the Electoral Commission, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by sections 17(d) and 26(e) of the Local Government Act 1992, and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Order: Citation and commencement 1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the District of Huntingdonshire (Electoral Changes) Order 2002. (2) This order, with the exception of articles 5, 6, 8 and 9, shall come into force— (a) for the purpose of proceedings preliminary or relating to any election to be held on 6th May 2004, on 15th October 2003; (b) for all other purposes, on 6th May 2004. (3) Articles 5 and 9 shall come into force— (a) for the purpose of proceedings preliminary or relating to the election of a parish councillor for the parishes of Houghton and Wyton, and The Stukeleys to be held on 4th May 2006, on 15th October 2005; (b) for all other purposes, on 4th May 2006. -

WISBECH TOWN COUNCIL 15 and 18 May 2015 MINUTES OF MEETING Friday 15 May 2015 (12 noon) Present: Councillors Brunton, Bucknor, Mrs Bucknor, Mrs Cox, Hill, Hodgson, Miss Hoy, Human, Miss Kumalane, Lay, Mrs Lay, McLaren, Mrs MacRae, Oliver, Miss Oliver, Schooling, Tibbs and Tierney. Apologies: None. In attendance: Mrs J Hill, Mrs J Hodgson, Mrs B Oliver, Mrs T Bidwell-Hazell, Mrs S Farmer, Mr T Jordan, Mr A Hopkins, Father David Addington, Mrs MaryAnn Addington, Father Paul West and guests of the Mayor elect (including a party of visitors from Arles). Members and guests were seated in the Council Chamber to await the Mayoral party, which entered the Chamber at 12 noon. On taking his seat, the outgoing Mayor of Wisbech, Councillor Hill, called upon the Mayor’s Chaplain, Father Paul West, to say prayers. The outgoing Mayor thanked Father Paul West and opened the meeting. The outgoing Mayor welcomed the five new members of Wisbech Town Council, elected on 7 May 2015, to their first meeting of the council. 1/15 Election of Chairman of the Town Council (to be known as Town Mayor) for the municipal year 2015/16 Members decided, unanimously, on the proposal of Councillor Hill, seconded by Councillor Mrs MacRae, and there being no other nominations, that Councillor Hodgson be elected as Chairman of Wisbech Town Council and Mayor of Wisbech for the municipal year 2015/16 and that he paid an annual allowance of £3,100 in relation to the performance of that role. The Mayor read and signed a Declaration of Acceptance of Office. -

Upwood & The Raveleys Newsletter JUNE 2020 Issue 108 LOCAL LASS RAISES OVER £1000 FOR HER SPARKS CLUB Lily, who lives in Upwood, was inspired by Captain Tom to do her own fund-raising during the month of May. Lily, who is a member of the Sparks Club in Ramsey, decided to walk a marathon by completing a mile every day for 26 days. She could be seen meeting her own personal challenge pounding the streets of Upwood accompanied by her mum, Helen, and her trusty collection bucket. Lily raised over £1000 from on-line and street donations for her Sparks club. Well done Lily!
