- 1 - Burnable Garbage (Twice a Week) ※Be sure to put out your garbage before 9 a.m.

●Items made of burnable materials are placed in the Minoh City Burnable Garbage Bag. Examples: Kitchen garbage, items made of paper, plastic, fabric, leather, wood, rubber, etc.

Reducing volume by draining liquids, breaking large items into small pieces, etc., will help to fit all FREE of your garbage in the freely distributed city garbage bags. DISPOSAL

５ Oversized Garbage ※Be sure to put out your garbage before 9 a.m. (Twice a Month) ●Carriable garbage that is less than 3m long but cannot fit in the designated bag Examples: drawers, tables, chairs, carpets, futons, bicycles, etc.

・Spray cans and gas containers are put out as dangerous garbage.

・You do not need to use Minoh City Garbage Bags or Oversized Garbage Tickets. (Please be aware that even if you use them or stick them on, they cannot be used to pay for collection.)

・If there is anything remaining inside, hand the container directly to the collection worker.

９ Items Under the Appliance Recycle Law

PCs with a Recycle Mark （products from October 2003 onwards） As the recycle fee is included in the computer, there is no need to pay recycling fees.

１３ Garbage Bag Distribution/Selling

In order to reduce and recycle garbage, and to share the responsibility of gas emissions more equally, Minoh City charges a fee to dispose of garbage.

The garbage disposal system is described in the table below ■ Burnable garbage free of cost If you are a Minoh citizen you can receive a set amount of Burnable Garbage Bags for free depending on the number of people that reside in your household. If the amount is insufficient you can get more for a fee. Households with children under 3 years, people above 65 years, and people with a level 1 or 2 Physical Disability Certificate get more free bags. ■Unburnable garbage includes a fee Unburnable Garbage Bags must be bought.

■Oversized garbage includes a fee (As of April 2019) You are required to pay a disposal fee per item （please buy an Oversized Garbage Ticket).

■Recyclable garbage free of cost In order to promote garbage recycling, disposal is free.

■Dangerous Garbage free of cost In order to ensure safety, collection of this type of garbage is free.

A part of the disposal cost (about half) is added to the original price of the garbage bags and disposal tickets. This is to charge people a part of the disposal expenses corresponding to the amount of garbage, in order to preserve equality and make people understand that getting rid of the garbage has a cost. By doing so we hope people will be more willing to reduce the amount of garbage they produce.

Disposal of recyclable garbage and dangerous garbage is free as long as the correct way of disposal is followed.

The free disposal of a set amount of burnable garbage has been implemented as a financial method to promote garbage reduction. A fee will be charged for disposing more garbage than the set amount.

Instead of a "free garbage disposal no matter the amount," a "lower fees for lower amounts" policy is better to promote garbage reduction. Furthermore, it is a better system as it reduces the burden of those who produce less garbage.

The help of every single citizen is important for garbage reduction. For this purpose we ask you to reconsider what products can be used again and recycled. It is of utmost importance to raise awareness about garbage reduction.

Garbage reduction results after implementing the economic methods In the year 2003 the new system was implemented. In 2013, 10 years after its implementation, an 11.6% garbage reduction was achieved regardless of the city's population increase. No rebound effects have been observed. Thanks to the efforts of the citizens, we have been able to advance towards greater garbage reduction awareness.
