Nayara Helou Chubaci Güércio 03/09/2020 The Traveller as a Translator: Intralingual Translation in Brazilian Road Films Nayara Helou Chubaci Güércio This dissertation aims at answering the following question: what are the visual and thematic choices in the representation of intralingual translation in Brazilian cinematic travel narratives? The corpus of analysis is comprised by the films: Central Station (Water Salles, 1998) and Cinema, Aspirins and Vultures (Marcelo Gomes, 2005). This study hopes to continue the research developed in the books Translation Goes to the Movies (Cronin 2009) and Across the Lines: Travel, Language, Translation (Cronin 2000). This research subscribes to the logical system of deduction and it is categorised as a basic empirical study. The materials used are from bibliographical and audiovisual sources. The chosen method of analysis is an interpretation of Casetti & Di Chio’s (1998: 126) methodological proposal for analysing the filmic text, which are: isolation, identification and interpretation. The categories of analysis are Cronin’s (2006: 131) three levels in which intralingual translation can occur. After the analysis, it is concluded that the thematic choices in the representation of intralingual translation in Brazilian cinematic travel narratives revolve around: 1) the effects of intralingual translation in each of the travellers’ identities; 2) the role of intralingual translation in the relationship forged between the two travellers and; 3) the role of intralingual translation in the relationship forged between the travellers and other characters.

    Decision of the IOC Executive Board

    Decision of the IOC Executive Board The IOC Executive Board (EB) today deliberated on the findings of the Schmid Commission addressing the systematic manipulation of the anti-doping system in Russia prior to this decision. The Commission’s report also addresses the manipulation of the anti-doping laboratory at the Olympic Winter Games Sochi 2014, which targeted the Olympic Games directly. The EB approved the Commission’s report. Now that due process has been followed, and the right to be heard has been granted, the EB, following the recommendations of the Schmid Commission, took the following decisions: I. To suspend the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) with immediate effect. II. To invite individual Russian athletes to the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 according to the following guidelines: 1. The invitation list will be determined, at its absolute discretion, by a panel chaired by Valerie Fourneyron, Chair of the ITA. The panel will include members of the Pre-Games Testing Task Force: one appointed by WADA, one by the DFSU and one by the IOC, Dr Richard Budgett. 2. This panel will be guided in its decisions by the following principles: a) It can only consider athletes who have qualified according to the qualification standards of their respective sports. b) Athletes must be considered clean to the satisfaction of this panel: - Athletes must not have been disqualified or declared ineligible for any Anti-Doping Rule Violation. - Athletes must have undergone all the pre-Games targeted tests recommended by the Pre-Games Testing Task Force. - Athletes must have undergone any other testing requirements specified by the panel to ensure a level playing field.

Savoie Mont Blanc has 110 ski resorts, including some world-famous ones such as Val d’Isère, Méribel, Courchevel, Chamonix… and many more. Savoie Mont Blanc is easy to access by plane (airports include Chambéry, Grenoble, Lyon and Geneva) and car. Although there is no Snowtrain this winter, Savoie Mont Blanc is still easily accessible by train: take the Eurostar to Paris or Lille, then the TGV to Chambéry or Annecy (it takes less than 3 hours from Paris to Chambéry and less than 4 hours for Annecy).

So as to integrate the olympic emblem (text, rings), a deep graphic study was made. The official logo of the 1992 Winter Olympics Games consists of three inseparable elements : - a symbol, "the flame", - a typography "Albertville 92", - the olympic rings which according to the IOC olympic charter, "represent the union of the five continents and the meeting of athletes of the whole world on the occasion of the Olympic Games in a spirit of loyal competition and friendship, ideal praised by the Baron de Coubertin".
