List of Crayola Crayon Colors - Wikipedia, the Free Encyclopedia 11/17/11 10:56 AM List of Crayola Crayon Colors from Wikipedia, the Free Encyclopedia List of Crayola crayon colors - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia 11/17/11 10:56 AM List of Crayola crayon colors From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Crayola crayons have come in many colors since their introduction in 1903. By 1905 Binney & Smith's Crayola crayon product line had reached 30 colors.[1] In 1958 the number of colors increased to 64. Eight fluorescent colors were introduced in 1972, increasing the number of colors to 72. In 1990 the total increased to 80 colors with the introduction of 16 colors and the discontinuation of eight colors. The number of colors was increased to 96 in 1993 and to 120 in 1998, though with thirteen crayons being retired along the way, the total of colors is 133.[2] Along with the regular packs of crayons, there have been many specialty sets, including Silver Swirls,[3] Gem Tones,[4] Pearl Brite,[5] Metallic FX,[6] Magic Scent,[7] Silly Scents,[8] and more. Colors have been renamed through the years. In 1958, Prussian Blue was renamed Midnight Blue. The color known as Flesh was renamed Peach in 1962, partially in response to the U.S. Civil Rights Movement. Indian Twelve of Crayola's 133 standard Red was renamed Chestnut in 1999 due to concern that some children crayon colors thought the crayon color represented the skin color of Native Americans.[2] According to the company, however, the name originally referred to a reddish-brown pigment from India that is used in artists' oil paint.[2] In the past, some crayons have been temporarily renamed, such as the 2004 State-Your-Color Contest[9] crayons and the eight Kids' Choice Colors in the 2008 50th anniversary 64-count box.[10] Contents 1 Standard Colors 2 Specialty Crayons 2.1 Silver Swirls 2.2 Magic Scent 2.3 Gem Tones 2.4 Changeables 2.5 Color Mix-Up Crayola's thirteen retired colors 2.6 Pearl Brite 2.7 Crayons with Glitter 2.8 Metallic FX 2.9 Silly Scents 2.10 Heads 'n Tails 2.11 True to Life 2.12 Extreme Twistables Colors http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Crayola_crayon_colors Page 1 of 15 List of Crayola crayon colors - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia 11/17/11 10:56 AM 3 See also 4 References 5 External links Standard Colors This is a list of the 133 standard Crayola crayon colors. Antônio Carlos 6627 31270-901 Belo Horizonte, MG [email protected] ABSTRACT A gem is appreciated by collectors and, when polished, widely used for jewelry manufacturing. For example, when quartz naturally or artificially acquires a color it becomes a gemstone (smoky quartz, morion, citrine, amethyst, or prasyolite). The presence of chromophore elements in a quartz sample was analysed by Fourier transform infrared spectrometry (FTIR). With a semi-quantitative analysis of the absorption FTIR spectra, it was possible to predict if colorless quartz has the potential to develop color when exposed to ionizing radiation and heat. Specific absorption bands show the presence of chromophore elements in quartz such as aluminum, iron, hydrogen, sodium, or lithium. Considering the ratio of the heights of the absorption bands of these elements, it was possible to predict the color quartz can develop. Samples of irradiated dark and light violet fluorites were analyzed by FTIR and energy-dispersive X-rays spectroscopy. The light violet samples has higher content of calcium relative to fluorine, as well higher content of hydroxyl, probably replacing fluorine in crystal lattice.

  • Color Specification Rules
FDM COLOR SPECIFICATION RULES COLOR STANDARDS The FDM has established a set of 24 standard colors to use in titles and descriptors. By using standard titles, it helps the entries in the galleries sort so that similar discs appear together. It also assists users when trying to search. Instead of having to guess if the disc is described as blue, teal, turquoise, aquamarine, cyan or blue-green, using the FDM standard color name (turquoise in this example) makes it easier to search by color for a disc or other museum item. The FDM Color Standards guide can be found at www.flyingdiscmuseum.com/colorstandards. The following is a set of rules for how to apply the color standards to titles and descriptors. 1. If a manufacturer or vendor has defined explicit color names for its discs or other items, those names should be used. Examples: Ancient Alien Green, Peach, Aqua Blue Glow 2. For color hues that are not represented by the color wheel: a. If the color is a synonym for a color on the wheel, use the color from the wheel in the title and descriptor. Example: Violet disc—Purple in the title and descriptor. b. If the color is a different hue than the color wheel name, use the closest color wheel name in the title. In the descriptor, follow the standard color with the alternate color name in parentheses. Example: Peach disc—Orange in title, Orange (Peach) in descriptor. Page 1 of 4 3. For discs that need an adjective to properly describe the color (e.g.

  • Chestnut Growers' Guide to Site Selection and Environmental Stress
This idyllic orchard has benefited from good soil and irrigation. Photo by Tom Saielli Chestnut Growers’ Guide to Site Selection and Environmental Stress By Elsa Youngsteadt American chestnuts are tough, efficient trees that can reward their growers with several feet of growth per year. They’ll survive and even thrive under a range of conditions, but there are a few deal breakers that guarantee sickly, slow-growing trees. This guide, intended for backyard and small-orchard growers, will help you avoid these fatal mistakes and choose planting sites that will support strong, healthy trees. You’ll know you’ve done well when your chestnuts are still thriving a few years after planting. By then, they’ll be strong enough to withstand many stresses, from drought to a caterpillar outbreak, with much less human help. Soil Soil type is the absolute, number-one consideration when deciding where—or whether—to plant American chestnuts. These trees demand well-drained, acidic soil with a sandy to loamy texture. Permanently wet, basic, or clay soils are out of the question. So spend some time getting to know your dirt before launching a chestnut project. Dig it up, roll it between your fingers, and send in a sample for a soil test. Free tests are available through most state extension programs, and anyone can send a sample to the Penn State Agricultural Analytical Services Lab (which TACF uses) for a small fee. More information can be found at http://agsci.psu.edu/aasl/soil-testing. There are several key factors to look for. The two-foot-long taproot on this four- Acidity year-old root system could not have The ideal pH for American chestnut is 5.5, with an acceptable range developed in shallow soils, suggesting from about 4.5 to 6.5.
