Start your review of Superman: Camelot Falls, Vol. Oct 12, Sam Quixote rated it it was ok. A 17th century Superman Camelot Falls: Vol.1 time-travels to the present to warn Superman that the future is grim if he keeps up being heroic. In a totally unconnected subplot, Supes has to punch a crappy Doomsday-knockoff before having to fight an even more one-dimensional Superman Camelot Falls: Vol.1 called Khyber. Yope — drivel indeed! Busiek writes a great Lois and Clark and their characters were spot on in that opening chapter. The story though is a badly put-together, rushed mess. No part of it is remotely interesting nor do the various strands Superman Camelot Falls: Vol.1 connected. Camelot Falls is a boring failure through and through. Jan 24, James DeSantis rated Superman Camelot Falls: Vol.1 liked it. Another good, but could be great, superman story. The start Superman Camelot Falls: Vol.1 Lois and Clark talking about their date night. Of course that can never go well as Clark is swamped with reports to do. Once he begins though it unravels that a dark force is coming to end him and the world. Before that though another creature pops up, similar to Doomsday but actually has a sad backstory that made him this way. Good: I love the stuff with Lois and Clark. It's heartfelt, cute, and well told. It makes you root for them Another good, but could be great, superman story. It makes you root for them. Superman Camelot Falls: Vol.1 also feel for Clark, a normal dude, with amazing abilities, just trying to do the right thing. The art is solid and the fights are crazy cool at times. Bad: The storyline itself is a bit overstuffed and then feels rushed, not getting the organic feel of a epic that I think Busiek is trying to tell. Also, the major "villain" playing them all is kind of a goofy. Overall, another solid adventure of Superman from Kurt. May 01, Patrick rated it really liked it. If we're talking straight-up Superhero stuff, I'm much more of a Batman sort of guy. That said, everyone enjoys a good Superman story now and again. Most of the time I prefer stories about exceptional people doing their best in complicated Superman Camelot Falls: Vol.1, struggling against forces that threaten to overwhelm them. Which is why I like to read about Batman, or Harry Dresden for that matter. But sometimes it's nice to read a story where the hero is the biggest badass ever, and most problems can be solved by Punching Harder and Never Giving Up. TM This particular story has the benefit of being written by Kurt Busiek. That's why I picked the comic up, I am a Busiek fan. His writing makes this more than just a punch-em-up story. I enjoyed it. View 2 comments. Apr 09, Artemy rated it liked it Shelves: comicsdc. The first half of this volume was not bad at all. Busiek gets the characters of Clark and Lois like very few writers do, and even though the story itself was pretty basic and generic, it was still a joy to read because this Superman is just Superman Camelot Falls: Vol.1 good. But even worse, it barely featured Superman himself The first half of this volume was Superman Camelot Falls: Vol.1 bad at all. But even worse, it barely featured Superman himself, which was the biggest Superman Camelot Falls: Vol.1 for me. Overall, not the best Superman comic out there, even though the characterization is spot on and the artwork is quite nice. Jul 31, John Yelverton rated it liked it. Very confusing Superman story that really doesn't make any sense. Mar 13, Devero rated it it was ok. Buoni i disegni di Pacheco e Merino, un poco meno la storia di Busiek. Sep 30, Joe rated it really liked it. The non-Superman parts are great. May 14, Jesse A rated it really liked it Shelves: graphic-novelslibrary-it-up. A strong start. Good art, maybe a bit overly sexualized in spots. Superman Camelot Falls: Vol.1 im excited to see where this goes. May 23, Aggelos rated it it was amazing. I actually read this story in single issues. I didn't enjoy it a lot at first but after I re-read, I saw the vision and talent Busiek put onto the story. It has everything you want from a Superman story, high-concept heroics, great characterization, strong supporting cast and Superman Camelot Falls: Vol.1 villains. I loved the villains. Both Subjekt 17 and of course the main villain Arion are great. Particularly Arion was so threatening Superman Camelot Falls: Vol.1 charming and considering his motives you think of him as a hero in his own I actually read this story in single issues. Particularly Arion was so threatening and charming and considering his motives you think of him as a hero in his own right. After all, the main concept is the "cycle of life". I have to give a bravo to Busiek when it comes to Superman's characterization. His Superman is mighty, yet vulnerable and human. But even in his second-guessing and emotional turmoil, Superman was still heroic and never brooding. He was a man of action, and from the man of steel, that's what you want. Also Busiek plays with Superman's senses masterfully. As for the art. Mmm, I had some problems but nothing major, I will say I was particularly annoyed by the female super-heroes who were drawn overly sexy, which kinda cheapened them. I don't have a problem with sexy super-heroines, I believe sex and super-heroes are kinda intertwined, the men are muscular and manly, the women feminine and sexy, as they should be, they are power-fantasies after all. Superman: Camelot Falls (Volume) - Comic Vine Some disaster struck New Troy Island - now one end is submerged but the rest is suspended above the water Superman is an issue of the series Superman Volume 1 with a cover date of December, It was published on November 8, In the present, Arion appears before Superman and his friends, and gives them a vision of a dark future yet to come. Despite the best efforts of Earth's super-heroes, darkness and danger always returns Some time soon, Earth's villains will unite, pushed by some great darkness, and defeat the heroes. While this is going on, another threat will rise Knyber is the immortal head of the Hashishim, the elite assassins who threatened the rulers of the ancient Middle East. Soon, he will rise, and begin making alliances with super-villains. Under his guidance, they will rise Superman Camelot Falls: Vol.1 destroy the world. The Superman Camelot Falls: Vol.1 will not know who is responsible until he is too powerful. And when Superman Camelot Falls: Vol.1 tries to defeat him personally, he will use his advanced technology to throw him at the Earth hard enough to cause a nuclear winter. It will be known as the Pulse. The resulting electromagnetic shockwave will short electronics worldwide. Billions will die worldwide. Villains will rise to dominance in the aftermath. And in Metropolis, Superman Camelot Falls: Vol.1 role of hero will fall to one man Lex Luthor. In the future, Lois Lane is keeping a diary. Despite the permanent clouds blotting out the sun, and the loss of electronics, she believes it is some time in Working with Jim Olsen, she is trying to get medicine out of Metropolis - until she is attacked by Khyber's Ghostwolf minions. She is saved by Sirocco, a mysterious speedster, Superman Camelot Falls: Vol.1 Lex Luthor and Parasite. Parasite absorbed the powers of Superman many years ago, and longs for Lois to call him "Clark". Safe, the group makes its way to Fortress Luthor, upstate from Metropolis. There, they pass out what they found, but are shocked to discover that Khyber's forces have found them, and are here to destroy them. The various surviving heroes within the stronghold are ready to fight, as well as the various anti-superhuman weapons that Luthor is so famous for. But in the end, things look grim In the present, Arion's storytelling is interrupted by Jimmy Olsenwho believes that the story will pick up here. • From Stories to Worlds: the Continuity of Marvel Superheroes from Comics to Film
From Stories to Worlds: The Continuity of Marvel Superheroes from Comics to Film David Sweeney, June 2013 Before its 2011 re-launch as the ‘New 52’ DC Comics’ advertising campaigns regularly promoted their inter-linked superhero line as ‘The Original Universe’. As DC did indeed publish the first ‘superteam’, the JSA (in All-Star Comics 3, Winter 1940), this is technically correct; however, the concept of a shared fictional world with an on-going fictive history, what comic book fans and professionals alike refer to as ‘continuity’, was in fact pioneered by DC’s main competitor, Marvel Comics, particularly in the 1960s. In this essay I will discuss, drawing on theories and concepts from the narratologists David A. Brewer and Lubomir Dolezel and with particular focus on the comic book writer Roy Thomas, how Marvel Comics developed this narrative strategy and how it has recently been transplanted to cinema through the range of superhero films produced by Marvel Studios. Superhero Origins Like DC, Marvel emerged from an earlier publishing company, Timely Publications, which had produced its own range of superheroes during the so-called ‘Golden Age of superhero comics, ushered in by the debut of Superman in Action Comics 1 in June, 1938) and lasting until the end of World War II, including Namor the Submariner, Captain America, and The Human Torch. Superhero comics declined sharply in popularity after the War and none of these characters survived the wave of cancellations that hit the genre; however, they were not out of print for long. That's not inherently a bad thing. This line-up would remain relatively stable for many years to come. The book contains 6 solo stories focusing on some of the unsung members of Honor Guard. This is the real reson that so many writers balked at Peter and Mary Jane's marriage, they couldn't write something interesting about a married couple without it being stale because they weren't allowed to let the characters grow. Astro City isn't slacking off here, even if the stories are less tied to classic comic book eras. I was pretty disappointed with this collection. Jun Astro City: Honor Guard Vol 13, Cale rated it really liked it. Not a whole lot of politics filter in and even less profanity.

SMALLVILLE DINER A small glob of red ketchup on a white plate. A hand dips and slides a french fry through it in a sunny, relaxed restaurant. CLARK ... and that's how I got out. The hand belongs to CLARK KENT, approaching his twenties, the boy next door in a world without neighbors. He beams a happy, sheepish smile. Two teenagers (a BOY and a GIRL) sit across from him, speechless. GIRL You're not serious. Clark chuckles and gestures 'cross my heart'. GIRL THAT'S your big secret. The girl folds her arms and leans back in her chair, frowning. GIRL I don't believe you. CLARK Honest. The girl slaps the table, laughing incredulously. GIRL Come on! You skipped physics?! That's REALLY the best you got? CLARK I told you it wasn't worth knowing. GIRL But we gave you such good ones! You can't honestly tell me that's all. CLARK What exactly were you expecting? The girl just shrugs. Clark looks around the diner for a waiter. He suddenly looks flushed. He leans forward, elbow on the table, rubbing a hand across his face. GIRL Hey Boy Scout, what's wrong? 2. CLARK Nothing. Clark grabs a menu and hides behind it, coughing, fidgeting. He wipes his brow with the back of his hand. His eyes slowly adopt a tint of red, an odd WHISTLING accompanying the change.
