REGIONS OF Remediation of landfill in Novi CLIMATE ACTION Knezevac

Summary General objective of this project is closure and rehabilitation of waste disposal sites in Novi Knezevac municipality. Existing state of landfill is not in desirable condition, and with this project it is planned to organize cleaning and preparing location for building local transfer station and recycling centre. This would be a great progress in connecting to regional sanitary landfill in Subotica.

Social and environmental impact Remediation of dump site in Novi Knezevac will result in accomplishing EU standards of environmental protection. Expected closure of all unregulated dump sites in municipality, establishment of good relations with regional waste management centre and raise up people’s conscience will eventually give great results. Waste sorting and recycling will secure more jobs for people that are living in this region. Clean and healthy en- vironment will provide desirable conditions for people to stay, live and work in this rural area. Numerous animals, especially rare and endangered birds, will have extraordinarily place to rest when they migrate from North to South or permanently stay in this future oasis.
