He is the saint of soldiers and wine makers. Festivals are organized throughout Italy, celebrating Vino Novello, the new seasons wine. IACO will celebrate San Martino Day on Friday, November 11th, 2016, from 7:00 to 11:00 pm, at the Sons of Italy, 61 King Hill Road, Braintree, MA, with a wine tasting and food pairing event. Proceeds from this event will benefi t the IACO scholarship program. Guests will experience an evening that will include a special selection of wines and authentic foods from four regions of Italy — Abruzzo, Calabria, Campania, and Veneto. There will be a short traditional ceremony which will include a blessing of the wines produced by local wine makers, followed by a four-course meal. Each course will focus on a region with an introduction of the wine, food and music. Wine and foods will be provided by Bin Ends and Fasano’s Catering, both of Braintree. There will be a silent auction, raffl es, and Italian music by a DJ and an accordion player. This is a cultural event that can be enjoyed by adults of all ages. Tickets are on sale through October 31st. Advance ticket sales are required. Table reservations for groups of 8-10 are available. Please note there will be no tickets sold at the door.
