Since the official launch of our fall fundraising campaign at the beginning of October, we are pleased to announce presently that we have gratefully raised an additional $12,400.00 to help fund our new Sound & Video System project. Through your generosity, we have now achieved approximately 70% of our targeted goal of $236,000.00. With your kind assistance, we hope to raise the remaining amount required to fund our project by January. To those who have already contributed, we thank you for your continued generosity and support of our parish. To those who have not yet contributed, please consider a pledge this weekend as an investment in the future of our parish as we strive to accommodate all who faithfully attend our Sunday Masses each weekend, as well as attempt to attract younger families with a contem- porary worship experience in the future. The Sisters of The Resurrection Remember Blessed Celine For over 100 years, the Sisters of the Resurrection have served our Parish and community, primarily in the field of education, health care and spiritual guidance. Many of our IC Alumni and parishioners have felt firsthand their compassion and commitment to the teachings of their foundress, Blessed Celine Borzecka who was beatified on October 27, 2007. Background on Blessed Celine

The Congregation of the Sisters of the Resurrection was founded in in 1891 by a widow, Celine Borzecka, and her daughter, Hedwig. The for- mation of the Congregation was the first time in the history of the that a religious community of women was founded by a mother and a daughter. Blessed Celine was a dedicated wife, loving mother, empow- ered widow and devoted religious woman M truly a role model for today’s modern woman. She once said: “There are no small things in the service of God. Everything is great because everything is an expression of His most beloved will.” Mother Celine was beatified on October 27, 2007 at John Lateran Basilica in Rome, . The miracle which qualified Mother Celine for this was the cure of a lifethreatening head trauma to her great, great, great grandson, Andrew MecherzynskiWiktor. God performed the miracle, but Mother Celine is the one who interceded. The miracle took place shortly after the whole Congregation prayed a Novena to her for a miracle for Andrew. Prayers for Graces through the intercession of Blessed Celine Borzecka

Praise be to you, Lord Jesus, who have gifted blessed Celine with a special love for the paschal mystery and the de sire to fulfill Your holy will. Grant us, through her intercession, the grace... for which we beg You, trust- ing in your unlimited love for us. Lord may your Church rejoice by numbering your servant, Celine, among the saints for Your greater glory and for our good. You are God, Who lives and reigns with God the Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, forever and ever. Amen. The Sisters of the Resurrection Congregation called into action in Chicago

Sister Anne Strzelecka, C.R. arrived in Chicago on February 2, 1900 to work with students in Catholic schools. In 1912, Sister Anne bought a tract of land in northwest Chicago and three years later opened Resurrection Academy as an elementary school and boarding school for girls. In 1920, Sister Anne bought the 52acre An- derson onion farm and skating pond where AMITA Resurrection Medical Center now stands. Resurrection High School was established in 1922 at 7432 W. Talcott Ave. After 40 years of growth, Resurrection High School opened its doors in a new, much larger building at the corner of Oriole and Talcott Ave. in 1962. For more information about Resurrection College Prep High School, please plan to attend their open house event next Sunday November 3rd from 1:00 3:00 P.M. to experience a personal tour of Resurrec- tion’s campus and meet faculty, staff, coaches, and students. Come explore the innovative academic pro- grams and activities that prepare young women for success in college, career and life. Resurrection College Prep High School is the largest female Catholic school on the north side of Chicago.
