A licensed master social worker shall only engage in clinical practice under direct supervision as prescribed by the board 32-3293. Licensed clinical social worker; licensure; qualifications A person who wishes to be licensed by the board to engage in the practice of social work as a licensed clinical social worker shall: 1. Furnish documentation as prescribed by the board by rule that the person has: o Earned a master's or higher degree in social work from a regionally accredited college or university in a program accredited by the council on social work education or a degree from a foreign school based on a program of study that the board determines is substantially equivalent. o Received at least three thousand two hundred hours of post-master's degree experience in not less than twenty-four months under supervision that meets the \\msfirb01\IR_Projects$\StateAuthorization\Professional Licensure\Programs\CHES\Social Work\Social Work Licensure Requirements by State Nov 2018.docx requirements prescribed by the board by rule. For the direct client contact hours, not more than four hundred hours may be in psychoeducation. Qualifications — Issuance The Arkansas Social Work Licensing Board shall issue a Licensed Social Worker license to an applicant who qualifies as follows: Has a baccalaureate degree in a social work program from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education or the Canadian Association for Social Work Education, or has received before June 17, 1986, a baccalaureate degree in a social work program from an accredited educational institution; Has passed an examination approved by the board for this purpose and level of practice; Has applied for a criminal background check and meets the qualifications for issuance of a license under § 17-103-307; Has good moral character; Is physically and mentally competent to provide social work services with reasonable skill and safety; Is not affected by a mental or physical disease or condition that would impair the applicant's competency to provide social work services; Has not pleaded guilty or nolo contendere to or been found guilty of a felony, any crime involving moral turpitude, or criminal offense involving violence, dishonesty, fraud, deceit, breach of client trust, or abuse of the vulnerable; Does not use drugs or alcohol to an extent that the use affects the applicant's professional competency; and Has not engaged in fraud or deceit in making the application.
