The driver was found in possession of cannabis and faces a charge for driving under the influence of drugs. There was an issue in the past week with litter having been removed from a refuse bin & strewn over the ground. The offender is unknown, but it was tidied up & put back into the bin by the teenagers using the shelter as they were as dismayed at the behaviour as others. Future events Making the community safer Admiral Nurses and the Sole Bay The SNT have been contacted this month by parishes in the Health Centre will be launching area interested in starting a Community Speed Watch Scheme. 'Dementia Neighbours' in Southwold town centre on the 1st of Nov. to CSWs are volunteers who wish to make their community safer highlight how local people can help by deterring excess vehicle speed. The minutes were taken as read and proposed by Cllr Galloway for approval by seconded by Cllr Buttle. A vote was taken where they were agreed, and they were duly signed by the Chairman as a true record of the meeting. 3. Matters Arising from the Annual Parish Meeting held on 18th April 2018. There were none. The Chairman thanked Cllr Roberts for organising tonight’s presentation. Cllr Roberts announced that a film called Town Settlement would be shown. Cllr Roberts who had source the film gave a brief introduction and explanation of the film before it was shown. Cllr Roberts also announced that there is a competition – if anyone can recognise 10 things in the film to let them know after the meeting. Volunteers for working parties will be needed. 2 VAS – Cllrs Statt & Warner have put the sign up near the Village Hall, more brackets have been ordered. R&W PC will ask Ilketshall St Andrew for two fifths of the cost of insurance and agreement that should a claim be made the Parish who has possession at the time should pay the excess. 3 Village Hall refurbishment – Cllr Statt is waiting for agreement of the altered questionnaire and is hopeful they will be printed and delivered shortly. The new paintwork in the hall has attracted favourable comments, the bar area is due to have a tidy up as the planned full refurb is some time away. MS Oakes have turned down the job of repair work to the car park as they feel the gravel will interfere with proposed drainage works, Cllr Statt has asked Ovamil for an estimate.

    for Issue Feb 2019 Connecting Communities ince becoming leader of Suffolk County Council, I have continued to keep broadband at the top of my agenda. I am pleased to tell you that the Better Broadband for Suffolk program has Sreached a new milestone, 93% of homes and businesses across Suffolk can now upgrade to a Superfast Broadband service. This is fantastic news and means an overwhelming majority of residents, businesses and organisations can now enjoy the benefits of faster and more reliable internet speeds. But as a resident and a councillor of a rural ward where some premises still do not enjoy these benefits, I know we have further to go. We already have a contract in place for Openreach to extend fibre broadband coverage to 98% of all Suffolk premises by 2020. But even beyond this, we are committed to reaching 100% Superfast Broadband coverage in Suffolk as quickly as possible. So, if you haven’t already done so, check if Superfast Broadband is available where you live by following the simple steps below, but don’t forget, even if broadband is available, you will need to upgrade your connection to enjoy the benefits of the higher speeds.     The Mattin Family of Campsea Ashe Research by Sheila Holmes July 2014 © Sheila Holmes Mattin Family The Mattin families lived in Campsea Ashe from at least 1803 until the early part of the 20th century. Thomas Mattin and his wife Elizabeth nee Curtis, lived in the neighbouring village of Hacheston. Their son Thomas, married a girl from Campsea Ashe, where they settled for the rest of their married lives. They brought up their children and some of whom continued to live in the village. The Mattin family, were connected to several other Campsea Ashe families through marriage, such as the Youngmans , Mays, Lings, Curtis’s, Townrows and Knights. It is possible that one branch of the family lived in Little Glemham but so far no definite connection has been found, In 1881, there were there were 6 Mattin families living in the village at same time. Connection with the Youngman family. John Youngman, born 15th December 1791 and died on 15th March 1874, Campsea Ashe, married Elizabeth Ling on 25th May 1813. Their daughter, Charlotte, born 1817, married Charles Mattin,. Charles and Charlotte had a son, Charles, born 1839. Young Charles Mattin lived with his grand parents, John and Elizabeth Youngman from the age of 2 in Campsea Ashe. Charged with Actual Bodily Harm. An entry in the records of the Quarter Sessions at Ipswich on 1st July 1870 states, Charles Mattin and James Mattin, the younger, were charged with causing actual bodily harm, were sentenced to 12 calendar months imprisonment with hard labour. It is not known who these two men were or indeed whether they were members of our Mattin family.
