He is Senior Counsel and advocate in the High Courts of Kenya, Tanzania, and Zanzibar. Nowrojee was awarded the International Bar Association’s Bernard Simons Memorial Award for the Advancement of Human Rights and the prestigious Bharatiya Pravasi Samman Award by India, among many other honours, in a distinguished career. He is the author of A Kenyan Journey (2014), Dukawala and Other Stories (2017), Pio Gama Pinto: Patriot for Social Justice (2007) and A Vote for Kenya: The Elections and the Constitution (2013). Nowrojee gave the prestigious South Asian Studies Council’s Annual Gandhi Lecture on October 2, 2017, at Yale University, from where he has an LLM degree.
