Mr. Jean, a native of Des Moines, Iowa, received his Bachelor of Music Clarinet Horn Anna Alons, Westwood Education Degree from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa in 1989. He Regan Breen, Pleasant Valley Cassidy Carolan, Decorah was selected by Northwestern University in 1994 as a Summer Fellow, studying Madison Kleveland, Forest City Alexis Green, CR Kennedy conducting with John Paynter, Mallory Thompson, Steve Peterson and Don Owens. Myra Meyer, Algona Marla Grubb, South Hamilton Erin O'Keefe, Clear Creek Amana His professional experience includes Director and Associate Director of Bands at Shiloh Mya Herrmann, Decorah Irene Swanson, Clear Lake High School (Snellville, GA), Director of Bands at Dunwoody High School (Dunwoody, Samantha Hood, Algona John Woodhouse, CR Washington GA) and Director of Bands at Saydel High School (Des Moines, IA). In 1991 the Saydel Lily Ladwig, Carroll High School Jazz Band 1 was selected to perform at the Iowa Bandmasters Association Ursula Leksell, Webster City Trombone In-Service Conference. Mr. Jean has also served as the adjunct Percussion Instructor at Joyce Li, CR Kennedy Tehya Cart, Springville Drake University (Des Moines, IA), Rehearsal Assistant with the Des Moines Youth Erica Ly, Linn-Mar Tyler Geopfert, Webster City Symphony Orchestra and the Atlanta Youth Wind Symphony. He has performed Elycia Obrecht, Webster City Kate Klarenbeek, CR Kennedy professionally with the Des Moines Symphony Orchestra, Waterloo-Cedar Falls Abbi Parcher, Clear Lake Noah O'Connell, Clear Creek Amana Symphony Orchestra, Omaha Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Iowa, New Sarah Riesberg, Carroll Gina Prosser, Pleasant Valley Jenna Ruccolo, Pleasant Valley Hampshire Summer Music Festival Orchestra, DeKalb Symphony Orchestra, Gainesville Kellen Schmidt, Algona High School Kylie Weier, Algona High School Ian Smith, Decorah Symphony Orchestra, Tara Winds Community Band and the Cobb Wind Symphony. As Laura Westercamp, Davis County Seth Truex, Iowa Falls - Alden a member of Tara Winds, Mr. Jean performed at the Midwest Clinic in 1994 and 2001 Sam Wilson, Decorah and again in 2011 with the Cobb Wind Symphony. Bass Clarinet Grace Morris, Davis County Euphonium During his tenure at Whitewater High School, the Wind Ensemble has had many Jadah Koob, Oelwein Jamal Cheatham, Dubuque Senior invitational performances. In 2014, they performed at the University of Georgia January Carlie Frost, Waterloo West Nic Englin, South Central Calhoun Music Festival as a featured ensemble. The ensemble performed a shared concert in Marcellis Gillis, CR Washington Bassoon 2013 with the Georgia State University Symphonic Winds at the Rialto Center for the Arts Joseph Horne, CR Kennedy Ella Carlson, South Hamilton in Atlanta, GA. The Whitewater High School French Horn Choir also performed a Lobby Lexi Diveley, Vinton-Shellsburg Concert performance at The Georgia Music Educator’s Association In-Service Tuba Nick Jacobson, Grinnell Conference in Savannah, GA. David Krumm, Grinnell Ireland Frisch, Waterloo West Brandon Nolin, Spencer Mr. Jean was named the Whitewater High School “Teacher of the Year” for the 2014- Alto Saxophone Ben Ogle, Aplington Parkersburg 2015 school year. In 2015, he was recognized by the Georgia Music Educator’s Michelle Blaha-Polson, Algona Emily Tigges, Dubuque Senior Association for "Twenty-Five Years of Service to Music Education". In addition, he was Claire Boots, Waverly Shell Rock Percussion also awarded the “Distinguished Wildcat Award”, recognizing outstanding service to Andrew Haan, Aplington-Parkersburg Lydia Davidson, Davis County Whitewater High School in 2013-2014. Mr. Jean has received the National Band Mark Kessler, Pleasant Valley Eric Green, Iowa City Association’s “Citation of Excellence” in both 2009 and 2014, and the “Excellence in Paige Kizer, Dubuque Senior Grace Meints, Algona Education Award” sponsored by the Atlanta Braves and AT&T in 2007. His professional Maggie Levandoski, Grinnell Ben Schlamp, Aplington-Parkersburg memberships include the National Band Association, National Association for Music Becca Turnis, CR Washington Education, Georgia Music Educators Association, Phi Beta Mu and Pi Kappa Lambda.
