22 Compass 5m Flexible Cable 23 Satellite Systems - What dish size? European Satellite Footprint Maps

The dish size determines the geographic area from which you can receive your desired satellite, this area is known There are a number of UK and International English speaking channels available within this (and other) satellite footprints. as the satellites ‘footprint’. For UK channels, we require the Astra 2 satellite. With the correct size dish those channels include: BBC World News, CNN, CNBC as well as many radio channels. Generally, the larger the dish, the greater the geographic area or ‘footprint’ from which you should receive satellite TV. Other satellites you could lock onto include: HOTBIRD, EUROBIRD additional ASTRA variants and many more...

Typically, to receive Astra 2 a 35cm, 40cm or 55cm would give you coverage in the UK. A 65cm dish offers coverage into the ASTRA 1L (19.2°) Europe TV middle of France, whilst a 75cm dish will offer coverage further across France and an 85cm dish will offer coverage approaching the Spanish border or further with Automatic Skew*. (Please Note: Not all systems are available in all dish sizes). Once you are out of this footrpint you will still be able to lock onto Astra 2 but receive a more basic range of channels.

There is a range of additional satellites to choose from, offering European TV and some UK channels, includung Astra 1 and Hotbird amongst others.
