Central Monthly Newsletter

03.02. 2020 A message from Sergeant 2893 James Thomas

Welcome to February’s newsletter, It is really pleasing to see that we have contributed to a drop in crime figures, not only across the NPA, but significantly on Loughborough Central Beat. We have also seen a drop in re- ported ASB. This is a real team effort that encompasses not only the work of the beat team, response and investigation unit, but also our valued partners across the beat at Charnwood Borough Council, , Love Loughbor- ough, our wonderful charities and more. Let’s keep it going!

Other good news to report, we have early meetings with LCFC in the community to get them involved with the Shed youth club, which aims to fill the void for the one Friday the club cannot operate, the team have been involved in sever- al arrests involving those that cause us issues in the community, including one prominent shoplifter who is back in pris- on. Page 1 Newsletter Good News We have had some great news from LCFC Community who are looking at involving LCFC with the Youth Group THE SHED, this is a fantastic opportunity for the young people getting involved with Football sessions at . Strike for Loughborough Central.

Our CCTV colleagues do an amazing job 247, there has been some fantastic results from our eagle eyed operators. Recently they have spotted wanted persons, witnessed crime being committed which has lead to a speedy response by officers and subjects arrested. Without our amazing CCTV colleagues we would not have been able to achieve these results. Thank you John and his team at Charnwood Borough Council! 60 Seconds with PCSO 6554 Lucinda Bailey This month we talk to PCSO Lucinda Bailey who joined Police 17 years ago and has been based at Loughborough Police Station since 2011. This is what she has to say: “The last 17 years have absolutely flown by having spent 3 of those years on a dedicated burglary reduction team, followed by an investigative role before arriving here in Loughborough. I am currently responsible for the Loughborough University and Loughborough College parts of beat where I am predominantly involved in giving crime prevention advice and overseeing all student related reports of Anti- Social behaviour. With new students arriving each year I am involved in a lot of planning and preparation alongside the University and Charnwood Borough Council to ensure that Fresher’s goes by as smoothly as possible, Despite Fresher’s being an extremely busy period it’s also my favourite time of the year.”

College, School & Nursery visits. As a team we have continued to reach out to our young people in schools, colleges and nurseries by delivering talks and presentations on personal safety, knife crime, county lines, drugs, Anti Social Behaviour. We strongly believe in early intervention and education from an early age. We have started 2020 strong by already delivering numerous talks with students at Charnwood College, De-Lisle College, Loughborough Amherst School & Charnwood Nursery. Plans are underway to continue to deliver these strong key messages around drugs, knife crime, county lines, personal safety and much more.
