ORGANIC FARMING Eclectic Institute is a leader in organic farming practices, utilizing crop rotation, mulching, animal and beneficial insect allies such as birds, but- terflies and bees, and composting. The rich volcanic soil and high rainfall makes rural Oregon an ideal location for growing herbs. Our crops include echinacea, black cohosh, elecampane, calendula, lemon balm, chamomile, feverfew, angelica, kale, and beets. WILDCRAFTING The highest quality plants are often found growing in their natural, or “wild” habitat. Eclectic sustainably wildcrafts with proper respect for the plants to ensure that future generations may continue to grow. Wildcrafted plants include St. John’s wort, stinging nettles, uva ursi, and elderberries. LLOYD’S COLD STILL Eclectic uses unique cold distillation processes to create our alcohol-free extracts. Our glycerite line is the same strength as our standard extract line and uses no heat. Our Lloyd still was developed by the reknowned pharmacist John Uri Lloyd - and is the same as the Lloyd still that can be found on display at the Smithsonian museum. MANUFACTURING Our manufacturing plant is located inside a custom-fit airplant hangar in a rural location surrounded by nature. We do our own freeze-drying, encapsulation, bottling, and packaging of our supplements. We also do a number of private label products.

2 BEGINNINGS Our founder was a pharmacist who grew interested in naturopathic medicine after seeing patients returning for repeat prescriptions and wondering when they were going to get well. After graduating from the national college of naturopathic medicine, Ed Alstat started the company within the school’s clinic dispensary. With this auspicious beginning, the company’s primary focus has always been on people’s health and wellness. FAMILY OWNED Eclectic Institute is still owned by the founder and his family and has its founding values intact. Many of our products were created with his own children in mind and have supported lots of families throughout the years. To meet the high standards of our founder, all of our products must be effective, ethical, and easy to use. We all know the benefits of fresh fruit and vegetables over dried, and the same applies to our herbs. Traditional cultures consumed fresh herbs whenever possible, and also used simple preservation methods such as air drying and preserving in alcohol. Our plant-loving naturpathic physician founder pioneered the freeze-drying of our botanical supplements. The modern technology of freeze-drying enables us to preserve herbs in as close to a fresh state as possible. Freeze-drying removes only the water, leaving all the nutrients in the same balance as found in nature. The color, enzymes, aroma, taste and bioactive markers are retained, unlike traditional methods of drying herbs (shade, air, or heat drying) which degrade the active components found in fresh plants.

42’S This famous bitters formula was developed by Dr. O.G. Carroll who taught its use to fellow Naturopathic Doctors Harold Dick and Leo Scott of Spokane, Washington. Dr. Dick used the 42’s extensively to cleanse and “sweeten the stomach” for a variety of imbalances. The famous 42 cocktail consists of two 42 capsules emptied into a glass and mixed with one ounce of warm water. Follow the cocktail with more water, by rinsing the herbal powder residue out of the glass and the mouth, and then swallowing it. The next meal is skipped.
