Alexander B. Stohler Modern American Hategroups: lndoctrination Through Bigotry, Music, Yiolence & the Internet Alexander B. Stohler FacultyAdviser: Dr, Dennis Klein r'^dw May 13,2020 )ol, Masters of Arts in Holocaust & Genocide Studies Kean University In partialfulfillumt of the rcquirementfar the degee of Moster of A* Abstract: I focused my research on modern, American hate groups. I found some criteria for early- warning signs of antisemitic, bigoted and genocidal activities. I included a summary of neo-Nazi and white supremacy groups in modern American and then moved to a more specific focus on contemporary and prominent groups like Atomwaffen Division, the Proud Boys, the Vinlanders Social Club, the Base, Rise Against Movement, the Hammerskins, and other prominent antisemitic and hate-driven groups. Trends of hate-speech, acts of vandalism and acts of violence within the past fifty years were examined. Also, how law enforcement and the legal system has responded to these activities has been included as well. The different methods these groups use for indoctrination of younger generations has been an important aspect of my research: the consistent use of hate-rock and how hate-groups have co-opted punk and hardcore music to further their ideology. Live-music concerts and festivals surrounding these types of bands and how hate-groups have used music as a means to fund their more violent activities have been crucial components of my research as well. The use of other forms of music and the reactions of non-hate-based artists are also included. The use of the internet, social media and other digital means has also be a primary point of discussion.

  • White Supremacist Prison Gangs in the United States a Preliminary Inventory Introduction
White Supremacist Prison Gangs in the United States A Preliminary Inventory Introduction With rising numbers and an increasing geographical spread, for some years white supremacist prison gangs have constitut- ed the fastest-growing segment of the white supremacist movement in the United States. While some other segments, such as neo-Nazis and the Ku Klux Klan, have suffered stagnation or even decline, white supremacist prison gangs have steadily been growing in numbers and reach, accompanied by a related rise in crime and violence. What is more, though they are called “prison gangs,” gangs like the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas, Aryan Circle, European Kindred and others, are just as active on the streets of America as they are behind bars. They plague not simply other inmates, but also local communities across the United States, from California to New Hampshire, Washington to Florida. For example, between 2000 and 2015, one single white supremacist prison gang, the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas, was responsible for at least 33 murders in communities across Texas. Behind these killings were a variety of motivations, including traditional criminal motives, gang-related murders, internal killings of suspected informants or rules-breakers, and hate-related motives directed against minorities. These murders didn’t take place behind bars—they occurred in the streets, homes and businesses of cities and towns across the Lone Star State. When people hear the term “prison gang,” they often assume that such gang members plague only other prisoners, or perhaps also corrections personnel. They certainly do represent a threat to inmates, many of whom have fallen prey to their violent attacks.

(May 2011) Petra Alaine Robinson, B.S., Nova Southeastern University; M.I.B.A., Nova Southeastern University Chair of Advisory Committee: Dr. Mary V. Alfred Light skin color sits within a space of privilege. While this has global significance and relevance, it is particularly true in Jamaica, a former British colony. The majority of the population is of African descent, yet there is an elevation of Eurocentric values and a denigration of Afrocentric values in many facets of life, specifically in the promotion of light skin as an indicator of beauty and social status. The purpose of this study was to examine the psychological and socio-cultural factors that influence the practice of skin bleaching in the postcolonial society of Jamaica. Additionally, the study outlined the nation‘s efforts to combat the skin-bleaching phenomenon.

Since leaving Borstal in 1968, he had a 3 year career of undetected crime until 16 Th January 1970, when he experienced a Christian conversion whilst suffering from the effects of LSD. He trained as a lecturer at Wolverhampton Polytechnic and commenced teaching at Luton College of Higher Education in 1978. He has taught hundreds of students during his 21 years as a lecturer. When moving to Fareham in 1990, David turned away from God in unbelief and went through divorce and remarriage. However he returned to God in faith and repentance and since 1994 he has spoken to many of his friends all about what Jesus has done for him. David believes it is now time to complete his students education. He now wishes to make known to all his former friends and students and their friends, that his bad experience on LSD is nothing compared to the experience of Hell. He wants to tell them all how they too might be saved through faith in Jesus Christ. Like Oscar Schindler and his list, all that were on that list were saved, so too this David has a list of over 250 former students and friends who he is seeking and will contact shortly.

"Taking It Back, Making It Strong!": The Boundary Establishment And Maintenance Practices Of A Montréal Anti-Racist Skinhead Gang 9833181 Department of Sociology McGill University For the Completion of the Requirements for the Master of Arts Program Final Draft – September 25, 2002 Committee Members: Dr. Lucia Benaquisto Dr. Prue Rains Research Supervisor: Dr. Prue Rains 2 INTRODUCTION For nearly two decades, the skinhead subculture has been nearly universally associated with the most vile manifestations of racism and violence imaginable. As evidenced by popular culture1, racism is a fundamental component of the mainstream definition of skinhead. It may come as a surprise, then, to discover that not only did the skinhead subculture emerge from uniquely multicultural and multiracial origins and not only are the overwhelming majority of skinheads non-racists, but that a very significant proportion of participants in the skinhead subculture actively identify themselves as anti- racist. One such grouping of anti-racist skinheads was the Montréal chapter of Skinheads Against Racial Prejudice (SHARP). Montréal's first SHARP chapter began in 1991 and folded approximately two years later. In 1996, Montréal racist skinheads began a protracted campaign of ambushes and armed assaults on non- and anti-racist skinheads, culminating in a series of "bar raids" in the summer of 1998 that sent over thirty people to emergency rooms. In response to this threat, SHARP Montréal reformed in late July 1998 (SHARP Montréal, 1999) and consisted of a fairly stable group of around two dozen young men and women. As members of an anti-racist skinhead gang2 SHARP members establish their identities as such in both mainstream and subcultural social settings, and, in doing so, 1 Any number of television programs (Law & Order), movies (American History X, Crimson River, Romper Stomper) and even video games (Sony Playstation 2’s Soldier Of Fortune and State Of Emergency) depict skinheads as being synonomous with racists.
