Aberdeen FC - FC Lokomotiv Moskva MATCH PRESS KIT Pittodrie, Aberdeen Thursday 8 November 2007 - 20.00 CET (20.00 Local Time) Group B - Matchday 2 Aberdeen FC - FC Lokomotiv Moskva MATCH PRESS KIT Pittodrie, Aberdeen Thursday 8 November 2007 - 20.00 CET (20.00 local time) Group B - Matchday 2 Contents 1 - Match background 6 - Competition facts 2 - Squad list 7 - Team facts 3 - Match officials 8 - Competition information 4 - Domestic information 9 - Legend 5 - Match-by-match lineups Match background FC Lokomotiv Moskva coach Anatoli Byshovets may have reason to recall a previous trip to Scotland as his side travel to face Aberdeen FC in Group B. • He visited Scotland once as a player, scoring FC Dynamo Kyiv’s second goal as they beat Celtic FC 2-1 in Glasgow in the 1967/68 European Champion Clubs’ Cup. That win, combined with a 1-1 draw in the home leg, saw Dynamo knock the then European champions out of the competition in the first round. • As a coach, Byshovets' Soviet Union side lost 3-0 to Andy Roxburgh’s Scotland at the 1992 UEFA European Championship finals in Sweden. • Aberdeen lost 3-0 at Panathinaikos FC on Matchday 1, matching their worst-ever result in their 100th game in UEFA club competition. Lokomotiv, meanwhile, drew 3-3 against Club Atlético de Madrid in a thrilling game in Russia. • The two sides have never met in European competition. • Aberdeen have never met Russian opposition before. • Lokomotiv have never come up against Scottish opponents either. • Lokomotiv boasted a Scottish star player for a while, with former Hibernian FC forward Garry O’Connor spending two seasons in Moscow prior to joining Birmingham City FC in the summer. • Aberdeen have scored just twice in their last four European home games, winning one, losing one and drawing their two most recent fixtures 0-0. • Lokomotiv are yet to lose an away game in the group stage. They played in the 2005/06 competition, drawing 0-0 at US Città di Palermo and winning 4-0 at Maccabi Petach-Tikva FC. • FC København are at home against Panathinaikos in the day's other Group B game.
