The Weekly Chronicle August 01 – 07, 2019 TDEA-CVP Partners Conduct Coordination Meetings with Key Stakeholders: In order to mobilize support for women NIC and voter registration, Trust for Democratic Education and Accountability –Citizens’ Voice Project’s (TDEA-CVP) partner organizations conducted meetings with the community members and other relevant stakeholders including religious leaders, local government officials, district administration officials, political parties and political activists. A total of 52 such meetings were Lakki Marwat: District level public forum being conducted during the reporting week in Abbottabad, Lakki conducted to ensure higher women voter registration Marwat, Battagram, Haripur, Khyber, Kurram, Orakzai, Kohistan, and Swabi districts. These meetings helped partner organizations in discussing various issues, including sensitization around women under-registration and significance of National Identity Card (NIC). Moreover, two district level public forums were also conducted by partner organizations in Lakki Marwat with only male members participating, in a bid to ensure and sensitize family male members to increase efforts in getting their women registered. TDEA-CVP Partners Continue Efforts to Facilitate Unregistered Women: During the reporting week, TDEA-CVP’s partner organizations continued listing of unregistered women in targeted communities of Buner, Bajaur, Haripur, Charsadda, Kohistan, Lakki Marwat, Khyber, Kurram, and Swabi districts. Eligible-age unregistered women were approached through door- to-door visits and community meetings with the assistance of local community members. As many as 2,516 unregistered women were listed during the reporting week, of which 305 were Abbottabad: Facilitation of women NIC registration at identified through door-to-door visits. Out of the listed 2,516 NADRA Mobile Registration Van women, a total of 1,662 were facilitated at NADRA’s Registration Centers (NRCs) and Mobile Registration Vans (MRVs). TDEA-CVP Conducts Program-Focused Training for Cycle 16 Partner Organizations: During the reporting week, TDEA–CVP held a Program-Focused Training (PFT) for the partner organizations’ staff implementing Grant Cycle (GC) 16 activities concerning the strengthening of legislative governance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). The three-day training was held with Project Managers and Legislative Engagement Officers (LEOs) of three partner organizations – Sustainable Social Development Organization (SSDO), United Rural Development Organization ICT: Program-Focused Training for GC 16 partner (URDO), and Pak Women. The training contents included sessions organizations. on activity execution, communication requirements, and deliverables for the purposes of monitoring and evaluation (M&E). The participants were also briefed about the use of TDEA-CVP’s comprehensive Grants Management Information System (GMIS) for timely reporting and submission of project deliverables. TDEA-CVP Partner Organization Conducts Coordination Meetings with NADRA and ECP Officials: During the reporting week, TDEA-CVP partner organizations conducted five (5) coordination meetings with the local officials of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) in Buner, Lakki Marwat, Khyber, and Kohistan districts. The meetings were organized to discuss MRV allocation to ensure smooth facilitation of women for NIC registration. Additionally, three (3) meetings were also conducted with Local Government (LG) representatives, including Deputy Commissioner (DC) and District Election Commissioner (DEC) of Haripur and Bajaur districts, respectively. The purpose of these meetings was to garner the support of LG officials in helping TDEA-CVP overcome issues related to women NIC registration and facilitation. TDEA-CVP Partners Conduct Post-Election Interviews in NMDs: Partner Organizations conducted post- election interviews with candidates who contested the recent elections along with the election agents of these candidates. As many as 14 post-election interviews were conducted with election agents of different candidates in Mohmand, Khyber, Bajaur districts and the Frontier Regions (FR). Moreover, five candidates were interviewed after the elections in Kurram and Orakzai districts. Meanwhile, two (2) Returning Officers (ROs) were interviewed in North Waziristan and Bajaur districts. Similarly, District Returning Officer (DRO) of Bajaur and District Election Commissioner (DEC) were also interviewed. The purpose of these post- election interviews was to observe and analyze the experience of candidates and their election agents regarding the electoral process and transparency of elections, issues faced by the candidates or their supporters during the elections, along with support of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Local Administration and Law and Enforcement Agencies throughout the electoral process. TDEA-CVP Shares FAFEN Election Media Updates with Key Stakeholders: TDEA-CVP shared three FAFEN Election Media Updates with the key election stakeholders via email to update them on important electoral and political developments of Pakistan. These election updates are prepared through comprehensive scanning of national Urdu and English language print media on a daily basis. The aim of this initiative is to consolidate and disseminate analyses of national political and electoral developments.
