The current owners were instantly impressed by the style and character of the house, ‘When we first saw it we thought it was a beautiful home which would be perfect for family living.’ Over the seven years they have lived in the cottage they have maintained the property with love and care, ‘We haven’t changed a lot apart from general upkeep but we have added a bespoke handmade wardrobe and storage in one of the bedrooms earlier this year. We have also added the tropical hardwood decking area in the garden which has given us a perfect space to relax and socialise.’ Perfectly presented throughout, the cottage has well proportioned rooms that are light and bright and there is underfloor heating on the ground floor under the oak flooring and ceramic/slate tiling. The living accommodation is very well laid out with the kitchen/breakfast room flowing into the spacious lounge and the current owners have loved this open plan living space as it works so well for family life. The kitchen has a range of modern cream gloss units and there is ample space for a large dining table and chairs which is ideal for family mealtimes or having friends round for an informal dinner party. * These comments are the personal views of the current owner and are included as an insight into life at the property. The accommodation on the ground floor is completed with a useful study that is an ideal retreat to work from home or for children to do their homework. Upstairs, the four bedrooms are of generous sizes, three of which overlook the rear garden and the fields beyond whilst the master bedroom has views to the front. There is also a spacious landing that the current owners have enjoyed using as space in itself. The garden is secluded and private and is mainly laid to lawn with mature trees and a hedging border. There is plenty of space for children to run and play and the decking area is perfect for relaxing on summer evenings. The current owners have loved spending time in the garden, ‘It is not overlooked and gets plenty of sun in the spring-autumn months.’ At the front of the property, the cottage is approached from the road along a track which serves one other property and there is a gravel driveway which provides parking for several cars. The cottage is also in an ideal position on the edge of Mellis Common, a 230 acre historic Common that has remained unchanged for centuries. It is a beautiful haven for wildlife and wildflowers and there are many trails and tracks to be explored.
