IT Database Administrator POSITION SUMMARY The primary responsibility of the IT Database Administrator will be responsible for the installation, configuration, upgrading, administration, monitoring, maintenance, and security of databases in an organization. This role includes the development and design of database & reporting strategies, system monitoring and improving database performance and capacity, and planning for future expansion requirements for each department and provides support for all Calabrio employees. They may also plan, co-ordinate and implement security measures to safeguard the database. CORE EXPECTATIONS Responsible for the developing and coordination of all database reporting requests: • Triage all incoming IT ticket requests for reporting needs – act of these requests through discovery with the owner and develop a plan for this request to meet the users desired needs • Effectively communicate status to ticket’s responsible contact owner • Escalate to other resources when necessary or as required Responsible for the management and coordination of all company reporting and database needs: • Develop key data warehouse components and work with current key database systems to move Calabrio data needs forward with the growth of the companies plans • Keep all records and process changes up to date for ISO 27001 and change management systems • Develop a business continuity plan for the key Calabrio data elements Other core expectations will be defined by your direct supervisor/manager CORE COMPETENCIES • Good troubleshooting and creative problem solving skills for design, creation and testing software • Knowledge of database theory and database design • Knowledge about the RDBMS itself, e.g. Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle Database, or IBM DB2 • Knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) o e.g. SQL/PSM, Transact-SQL queries, writes SQL scripts, etc. • General understanding of distributed computing architectures, e.g. Client/Server and Internet/Intranet • General understanding of the underlying operating system, e.g. Windows and Linux IT Database Administrator Page 1 • General understanding of storage technologies, memory management, disk arrays, NAS/SAN and networking • General understanding of routine maintenance, recovery, and handling failover of a Database • Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to interact with other team members, senior support personnel, high level personnel and customers • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Attention to detail • Project management skills • Ability to learn things quickly • Other core competencies will be defined by your direct supervisor/manager EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION • A Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field to perform job duties as a database administrator. In general, DBA's work with commercial databases such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle and many others. MENTAL/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS • Ability to sit for long periods of time depending on your position and/or getting up and down through your work shift • Frequent alpha/numeric keyboarding • Ability to view a computer for a long period of time WORKING REALATIONSHIPS • Report to VP of Support Operations • Work closely with peer IT peers, group leads and other employees and departments within the company • Coordinate key meetings and relationships with key department heads for support of their reporting and data needs COMPANY POLICY/PROCEDURES COMPLIANCE Follow all company policies and procedures as well as local, state and federal laws concerning employment to include, but not limited to: I-9 information, EEOC, Civil Rights and ADA.
