Al-Turath Foundation and its Collaboration with IRCICA 1 A.Establishment of Al-Turath Foundation AL-Turath Charitable Foundation is a special entity founded by His Royal Highness Prince Sultan Bin Salman Bin Abdul -Aziz Al-Saud in 1417 H (1996 AD) for reviving and preserving all aspects of the traditional heritage of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the activities of which include a number of projects related to the preservation of the urban heritage of the Kingdom in particular and of theArab and Islamic heritage in General.Twelve years later, it reformed into a Philanthropy foundation in 1429 H (2008 AD). While establishing this Foundation HRH Prince Sultan Bin Salman commented that “to care of our heritage is a national need, because of its cultural, social, economic and profound environmental dimensions. This care should be presented in both strategic visions and practical steps. The strategic visions and practical steps to preserve the heritage will not produce fruitful results unless there is an awareness of the importance and necessity of heritage to face present and future challenges. Also, the future of our incredibly rich heritage and its continuity it as both renewable and alive depend on finding generations with a better understanding and appreciation for it.

In Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, numerous collections, repositories, archives and libraries preserve the richest collections of manuscripts collected over many centuries. And all thanks to its favorable location in a picturesque oasis, almost in the center of the network of roads of the Great Silk Road.
