Having only launched the tournament just 2 years ago, we are thrilled to see the growing support for Tropical 7s which will now see over 110 youth and college teams vying for glory over the Easter weekend! Tropical 7s is now the first leg of the North American High Schools 7s Championship Series (NAHS7s) and we warmly welcome all the NAHS7s academies and teams to Orlando. We continue to expand our service offering to all participating teams and we will be broadcasting selected matches live for the first time on FloRugby. We have also expanded our referee programme, welcoming match officials from around the world and have introduced a new college recruitment programme. Keep watching this space for our 2020 developments! This year’s event has once again attracted a large number of international teams with over a third of teams coming from outside the USA. Many of the Canadian provinces are represented in some shape or form and we also welcome returning visitors from Central America and the Caribbean. We are once again grateful to the Florida rugby community for their continued support and welcome back many returning friends from past years. Please help us spread the word as we look to extend our ‘footprint’ to other parts of the world. Tropical 7s was established to address the growing demand for high-level and internationally focused Olympic rugby at the youth level. Our objectives for Tropical 7s are to: • provide high level competition for teams at youth and collegiate levels for both boys and girls. • create the perfect playing environment with top-quality pitches and ideal weather conditions. • deliver a high-quality event managed by industry professionals. • ensure a total rugby experience that includes an engaging and unique personal experience for all participants. PLAYING RULES Please refer to the 2019 Tropical 7s Tournament Rules & Regulations for full details about the playing rules and competition format. COMPETITION FORMAT The competition format for the 2019 Tropical 7s will typically consist of pool play followed by playoff match(es) based on rankings following the pool phase and the number of teams in each division. The competition format may differ slightly from division to division depending on the number of teams in that division. The following principles will be observed: • Pool Phase: Teams will be allocated 3 points for a Win, 2 points for a Draw, 1 points for a Defeat, and 0 points for Forfeit/No-Show. Each teams’ ranking in the final group table is determined by the amount of competition-points accumulated. In case of two or more teams on equal competition points in the final group table, head-to-head results will determine their ranking for the playoffs. If the match between two teams on equal competition points resulted in a draw or if more teams are on equal points, the higher cumulative score differential will be taken into account followed by the higher number of overall scored points. Should teams still be equal on all these criteria, there will be coin toss (or drawing lots if more than 2 teams are concerned). • Playoff(s) Phase (No draw game): After the pool phase, teams will be ranked (1st, 2nd, 3rd etc) in their division. The tournament will then move to a playoff(s) phase with teams drawn according to their pool ranking.

It was indeed a year of some important firsts. For the first time ever both our Women’s and Men’s Sevens Teams each won a World A MESSAGE Series Sevens tournament. The women captured gold in Sydney and the men took first in Singapore. Both teams also improved on their own Canada Sevens results with our women winning silver on home FROM THE soil and our men making it through to the quarterfinals. Speaking of Canada Sevens, Rugby Canada in 2017 began the process of securing the highly successful CHAIRMAN tournament for another four years. Canada Sevens is exposing rugby to more Canadians, generating new growth potential for the sport and becoming an important gathering place for the community. This past year saw the completion of the Al Charron Rugby Canada National Training Centre. This facility built through the generous support of the Government of Canada, the City of Langford and numerous private donors will house our various national team athletes. It is a state of the art centre that will allow our Canadian athletes to prepare for the rigors of global competition.

U19 MEN & U20 WOMEN CANADIAN RUGBY CHAMPIONSHIPS July 14-19, 2015 Regina Rugby Park Message from the Minister of Parks, Culture and Sport On behalf of the Government of Saskatchewan and the Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport, I welcome you to the 2015 Under 19 Canadian Rugby Championships here in our provincial capital. This year has been a great one for sport in Saskatchewan. In February, we hosted the Scotties Tournament of Hearts and celebrated our athletes’ successes at the 2015 Canada Winter Games. Later this summer, we will cheer on those competing in the Western Canada Summer Games in Fort McMurray. This week’s Under 19 Championship only adds to the excitement and our Government is proud to showcase our province and support all athletes and coaches as they strive for rugby gold. Rugby is a game of pace, determination and grit. It teaches athletic competition, rewards hard work and emphasizes teamwork to players and spectators alike. By encouraging its athletes to live healthy, active lifestyles, it enhances lives and inspires individuals to greatness. Greatness, however, would not be possible without the supporters that enable our athletes to compete. I thank all tournament coaches, officials, sponsors and parents for ensuring that sport enriches the lives of youth across our country. Of course, I also recognize the volunteers who have made this event and so many others in our province possible. It’s because of your hard work and selfless dedication that Saskatchewan remains the province with the highest volunteer rate in Canada. For all you do, thank you.

Rugby World Cup 2019 tested our Canadian Men’s XV team as they performed fearlessly against some of the world’s top rugby nations. FROM THE Despite the disappointing cancellation of our final match against Namibia, the team made Canadian’s proud when they volunteered to help clean the streets of Kamaishi, Japan following the destruction of Typhoon Hagibis. CHAIRMAN I am proud of the team’s resilience and their performance both on and off the pitch. 2019 was also a celebrated year for our National Men’s and Women’s Sevens programs as they both qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The hard work and dedication of both programs is evident in their performanc- es and we look forward to cheering them on at the Olympics in July 2020.
