LIVING WITH LOCKDOWN

As we head towards a fourth week of lockdown, we are all trying to adjust to a very different world than any of us could have imagined. The aim of the team in the Parish Council Emergency Group is to support the most vulnerable in our community as best we can through our wonderful volunteers. We hope that you have the details of your local volunteer if you need help. However, if you need support you can contact the Emergency Group on 01730 825201.

The team at the Parish Council Emergency Group have also been sharing ideas on how to keep our community together when we can’t get together. Living with the lockdown is challenging for us all and can make us feel frustrated, lonely, and maybe even a bit sad.

So here are some thoughts on keeping us together but apart:

A Rainbow Village The Congregational Church, on Road as you leave the village, would like as many young people as possible to paint or draw a rainbow to be displayed in the windows of the porch for all to see as they go by. Please leave pictures on the floor in the porch or take a photo of your picture and email to clerk@-pc.gov.uk.

Let’s fill our village with rainbows from the young and the not so young. Draw or paint a picture and put it in your window.

A Community Work of Art

Let’s create a community patchwork quilt to serve as a lasting reminder of these Method: unprecedented times. 1. Find plain material 6" square with 1'' plain Get creative and be as colourful as you border all round. This can be a duster, J dare and sew your ‘patch’. Within the 6'' sew, stitch, applique, nature that surrounds us – in fact anything you like as long embroider as colourful a picture as as its colourful. All the ‘patches’ will be joined together for possible one wonderful community quilt that can be displayed in our community as a lasting testament. Do as many as you 3. Please fill the square with colour. Your wish. house, garden, animals, view, name, trees, rainbow, smiles Result...... The assembled artwork will be charted and generations to come will be able to identify the family 4. Coronavirus and new policing powers The Police are working around the clock with local partners to respond to the coronavirus emergency. The new policing legislation allows police to act in support of public health officials and enforce the government's guidelines around public safety amid the coronavirus pandemic. They will continue to take the existing approach to explain and engage with members of the public in breach of the new rules but policing powers will be there for officers to enforce as a last resort.

Save Lives Stay at Home

Identification for Volunteers I hope you agree that our volunteers are doing a fantastic job supporting the most vulnerable during this crisis.

We are issuing all our volunteers with a named certificate, signed on behalf of the Parish Council. This will be carried when carrying out volunteer duties, together with photo identification such as a driving licence or passport.

This will service two purposes: 1. As the enforcement of lock down requirements may be increased, we are introducing an identification process for volunteers to use when shopping etc on behalf of residents. 2. Reassurance to residents that you are representing the Parish Council Emergency Group and to provide protection against rogue traders.
