Appointments to Consider Due to Resignations and a Term Expiration Listed below is a summary of the boards and commissions appointments that are scheduled for the March 27, 2018 City Council meeting. Name Bank applications are available for review in the City Clerk’s Office. Two Board Policy - Persons are eligible to serve on one additional Council appointed board/commission when serving on the following boards: Fire Prevention Code Appeals Board, Groundwater Committee, Law Library Board, Local Board of Building Code Appeals, Natural Event Mitigation Advisory Committee, Public Art Expanded Committee, Towing Advisory Board, Transportation Toll Facility Advisory Committee, and the Utility Review Board. Citizens are permitted to serve on a Council appointed board and a Mayoral appointed board or Regional board at the same time. A. Chesapeake Commission on Health and Well Being – 5 appointments There are five (5 ) appointments to consider due to resignations and a term expiration. Police Chief Kelvin Wright has recommended Officer Jason Koonce for appointment as the Police Department representative. Four (4) Citizen vacancies – All applicants listed are eligible, as they are citizens of Chesapeake. *Juan Hernandez has contacted the City Clerk’s Office to express his desire to serve on either Chesapeake Commission on Health and Well Being or Human Services Advisory Board. B. Chesapeake Integrated Behavioral Healthcare Board – 1 appointment There is one (1) appointment to consider due to a resignation. Executive Director of Chesapeake Integrated Behavioral Healthcare Joe Scislowicz has recommended either Kenneth Hartlein or Stacie Otey Scott for appointment. C. Chesapeake Interagency Consortium – 3 appointments There are three (3) appointments to consider at this time due to resignations and a term expiration. Council Member – Incumbent S.Z. “Debbie” Ritter is eligible and interested in reappointment. Chesapeake Interagency Consortium Coordinator James Lingeris has recommended Romania Whitehurst as the Parent representative. A recommendation has not been made at this time for a Children/Family Services representative. D. Human Services Advisory Board – 3 appointments There are three (3) appointments to consider at this time due to term expirations. Three (3) Citizen vacancies – All applicants listed are eligible, as they are citizens of Chesapeake. *Juan Hernandez has contacted the City Clerk’s Office to express his desire to serve on either Chesapeake Commission on Health and Well Being or Human Services Advisory Board. E. Library Board – 2 appointments There are two (2) appointments to consider due to resignations. Director of Libraries Victoria Strickland-Cordial has recommended Robert Bilane and Kathleen Kaurup for appointment. F. Parks, Recreation and Tourism Advisory Board – 4 appointments There are four (4) appointments to consider at this time for new representatives on this board. Parks, Recreation and Tourism Director Michael Barber has recommended the following individuals: Great Bridge Battlefield and Waterways – Phil Johnson Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge – Chris Lowie Chesapeake Public Schools – Kevin Cole Chesapeake Conference Center – Troy Thorn G. Southeastern Tidewater Opportunity Project (STOP) – 1 appointment There is one (1) appointment to consider. Mr. Elisha Harris was appointed to STOP by Mayor Krasnoff on September 27, 2016. As a housekeeping measure, Mr. Harris will need to be appointed by the City Council to ensure compliance of records. H. Towing Advisory Board – 1 appointment There is one (1) appointment to consider due to a resignation. Police Chief Kelvin Wright has recommended Officer Gary Hilber for appointment as the Police Department representative. I. Transportation Toll Facility Advisory Committee – 2 appointments There are two (2) appointments to consider at this time due to term expirations. Incumbent Larry Hazelwood is eligible and interested in appointment. Alternate/Financial – Tawanna McFarlin is an eligible applicant from the Name Bank. J.
