Due to the negative attitudes and low expectations many people with Downs Syndrome are left behind. All people with Downs Syndrome should and must have the opportunity to live fulfilling lives and be included on an equal basis with others, in all aspects of society. There is a lack of understanding of the challenges individuals face across their lifetimes and a failure to support them with the opportunities and tools needed to live fulfilling lives. www.downs-syndrome.org.uk Prostate Cancer Awareness Month - March 2019 Ovarian Awareness Most men with early prostate cancer don’t have any Month - March 2019 signs or symptoms. But there are some things that may mean you're more likely to get prostate cancer. You might hear these described as risk factors. Even if you don't have any of the symptoms that we talk about below, speak to your GP about prostate cancer if: Over 50 years old - Prostate cancer mainly affects men over 50 and your risk increases with age Family history and genes - You are two and a half times more likely to get prostate cancer if your father or brother has been diagnosed with it, compared to a man with no family history of prostate cancer. Cancer Champions - Early detection saves lives! Would you be able to spot the possible early signs of cancer in a friend or relative? If so, would you know how to approach the subject or what to suggest? Why not attend a half day session and become a Cancer Champion. Who can be a Cancer Champion? Anyone can! You don’t need any qualifications or prior knowledge on cancer. We need anybody from age 18 years upwards, from all walks of life who want to make a difference. You never know who you might be able to help. How can I become a Cancer Champion? All you need to do is attend one of our free half day sessions, which are laid back and informal, run by people like you (i.e. not doctors or people who speak jargon).
