The West Final to me is a very special occasion and this year is unique with the clash of two great neighbours. Kickhams, a team that has achieved so much in both hurling and football in recent years, have many players with inter-county experience in both codes and also many players that have been the back-bone of the club for many years, so must start as favourites. Eire Og, a club that's on the up and up in recent years have many players that have given so much to our county also in both codes with a great blend of youth and experience they will be guaranteed to give their very best and have a great record in finals. May we have two winners - the best team and the game of hurling. Our curtain-raiser is very special because it brings our Senior and Juvenile Boards together for the John Kelly Soft Drinks Under 14 "A" Hurling Final between Gallee Rovers and Kickhams. This is sure to prepare us for the big one. We welcome our new sponsors lipperary Co-Op and thank you for your generous sponsorship and wish you continued success. We welcome also our referee, Paddy Russell and his officials, the most sought after team in the country at the moment. To our host club Clonoulty Rossmore I compliment you on a job well done. At the beginning of the year, few would have predicted the OPPosition locked into battle at the final hurdle. KnockaviUa Kickhams and Eire 09 Annacarty are worthy representatives in a final which anticipates an hour full of gruelling competitiveness and physical exertion all through. On more than one occasion, the element of surprise has been the topic of conversation throughout this intriguing championship campaign. last year's divisional finalists Clonoulty Rossmore and Golden Kilfeacle were defeated in their respective 151 round matches with both sides failing to gain admission through the loser's section to a resurgent Cashel K.C. Cashel and Cappawhite exited at the semi-final stages with the Annacarty/Cappa episode probably the closest contest. Meanwhile, Kickham's road to the final was more routine with the bonus of a Donie O'Brien goal in the 1st round and the point scoring ability of John O'Brien in the semi-final, that diminished the Cashel resistance by two points on both occasions. 1991 was the last occasion that Clonoulty staged the West-final in which Cappawhite went down to the eventual Munster Club Champions, CasheL Now the seasonal pendulum rewinds itself towards another epic encounter. Coincidentally, two of Eire 6g's last three West titles were gained in Clonoulty in 1967 and 1981 respectively. This hunting ground could be a huge incentive for them and who's to say that they won't make it a threesomel Despite feeling the disapPOintment of losing their Senior status. Eire 6g returned with Intermediate honours in 1994. Last year they almost swept the board at underage level with the inclusion of a first ever underage County Minor Football title. Now 1999 has already shown a new approach and a craven hunger for success. Kildangan's Eamon Kelly has been the catalyst for this dramatic turnabout. himself a Junior All-Ireland medalist in 1989. John Quinn. Anthony Crosse and the Fox brothers were medal winners in 1986 and that Quartet possess the core of experience today With the expert !reetaking of Philip McLoughlin, the Kellys, the Heffernans and the youthful O'Sriens add a pleasant blend and variety 10 topple any defence. On the opposite side of the hurling spectre, Kickhams have no less than fifteen senior litle.s, the last accomplished in 1997 after a drought of 37 years. The majority of these players are established campaigners. Fergal Heaney, Brian Horgan, John O'Brien, Vincent Kelly and Kevin Farrell have a passion to anain superiority at the highest level while John McCormack, Eoin Morrissey and Donie O'Brien show the tremendous talent at the Kickhams disposal. They are no strangers to the big day having contested four finals already in the 1990's. For them a win today would surely compensate for all the years of disappointment. FOI my prediction a close encounler with possibly the experienced Kickham!" It is a privilege to present my ninth report to Tipperary County Convention. 2015 was so full of promise being so near and yet so far away and could have easily turned out a great year. After a bad start losing the Waterford Crystal and League first round our Senior Hurlers had four very impressive League wins on the trot to qualify for the League play-offs. A most disappointing one point loss to Waterford in the League Semi was put aside as we overcame our bogey team Limerick in the Munster Championship with a sixteen point victory in their own Gaelic Grounds. This was followed up with a Munster Final win over Waterford and momentum was building towards an All Ireland Final.

It is fair to say that there have been several moments when it looked as if we would not be here in this position. In many ways the world we knew and took for granted last March seems a lot longer than seven months ago. So much has been lost, and more important than the freedoms and privileges we so badly miss are the lost lives of the more than 2,500 Irish people all over the island who passed away at the hands of the coronavirus and left a void in the lives of the loved ones who mourn them. As we return to inter-county action the perils of the world we find ourselves in still exist.

Fómhar/Autumn 2016 Drámaíocht/Drama Ros na Rún 8.30pm Tuesdays & Thursdays from 6/9/16 (omnibus Sunday) The flagship drama series comes of age this season (the 21st) and is one of TG4’s best-loved programmes. It has engaging storylines that bring the leading characters through awkward situations and extreme jeopardy. There are many laughs along the way, the kindling of romance and consequent broken hearts for some but not all. The coming season will continue to delight, excite and engage audiences with cliffhanging drama, deception, deceit, death and of course romance and humour. In its unique natural style, Ros na Rún deals with the many social issues which face rural communities in today’s world and excels in the exposure of such matters with insightful writing and acting. Following on from the end of season showdown in the woods, audiences wait to see the fate of Bobbi Lee and Andy and will be intrigued to find out if he was left for dead. Tadhg, the series lynchpin is seriously threatened this season but will he get away with it, or must he spend the rest of his life looking over his shoulder? The season opens with much treachery and drama, and viewers will once again be glued to their seats as the season unfolds and death hits the coastal village, depriving the community of one of its long-time residents. Tiobraid Árann Abú - United Sports Panel 1959-2009 in conjunction with Bulmers Ltd Golden Jubilee Presentation of the Annerville Awards to the 2008 Tipperary Sports Stars 1 in Hotel Minella, Clonmel on Saturday, 31st January, 2009 United Sports Panel 2009: Back Row (left to right) Eamonn Wynne, Johnny O’Loughlin, Dave Hallinan, Seamus McCarthy, David Clancy, Liam Ó Donnchú; Front Row (left to right) Jimmy Cooney, Seamus King, James Holohan, Ken Conway, Richie Blanche. 2 Foreword When a number of sports enthusiasts got together in 1959, little did they realise that they were starting something that would stand the test of time and be still a force 50 years later. Led by Sean Barlow and the late Sean Lyons the United Sports Panel was formed. They felt the time was right to have an Award Scheme in the county to honour amateur sports stars in their chosen sports annually. In fact, one should note that these were the first such awards in the country. As well as honouring Tipperary’s outstanding amateur sportspersons the United Sports Panel had another aim, as expressed by the second chairman, the late Tom Halpin, when he presented the awards in 1964. He expressed the hope ‘that functions such as these, which brought the stars of various sports together, would help to promote unity in sport.’ Like all innovations, it was not without its teething problems. Finding ways to finance it and getting venues were just two of them. In the early days businesses in Clonmel were canvassed to sponsor the trophies. This problem was eliminated for the 1964 awards when Messrs Showerings Ltd.
