Dear SCCA Media Partners, Welcome to what is truly a new era of the Sports Car Club of America, as the SCCA National Champi- onship Runoffs heads west for the first time in 46 years to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. This event, made possible with the help of our friends and partners at Mazda and the Sports Car Rac- ing Association of the Monterey Peninsula (SCRAMP), was met with questions at its announcement that have been answered in a big way, with more than 530 drivers on the entry list and a rejunvenaton of the west coast program all season long. While we haven’t been west of the Rockies since River- side International Raceway in 1968, it’s hard to believe it will be that long before we return again. The question on everyone’s mind, even more than usual, is who is going to win? Are there hidden gems on the west coast who may be making their first Runoffs appearance that will make a name for themselves on the national stage, or will the traditional contenders learn a new track quickly enough to hold their titles? My guess is that we’ll see some of each.

Glen Region of the Sports Car Club of America BFGoodrich Tires Northeast Super Tour of 2014 SCCA U.S. Majors Tour Races Watkins Glen International “Long” Course-3.40 miles 7/4-6/2014 Results 14-M-3134-S Glen Region, Sports Car Club of America Glen Majors Glen Region, Sports Car Club of America SCCA Majors Tour Race The event was held at Watkins Glen International. The races were held on the “long” 3.40 mile course. The event occurred on July 4th through the 6th of 2014. The event consisted of eight (8) race groups. Each group had a race on Saturday and on Sunday; the race on Sunday was the contingency race. The event used a sanction of 14-M-3134-S. On Friday, there was a morning qualifying session of 20 minutes for each group. After a lunch break, there was a 15 minute qualifying for each group. The fastest time of either Friday session set the grid for Saturday. There were four warm-ups sessions Saturday morning. After that, each race group was scheduled to have a 30 minute race. Group 2 was accidentally given an extra lap, as the leader reach the start line at 30:19 for the white flag. Group 4, 6 and 7 were checkered early. For the races on Sunday, the fastest time from either qualifying session or the Saturday race was used to set the grid. Each group was scheduled for a 15 lap or 40 minute race. Group 3 was checkered early rather than under yellow to rescue a stranded car, and group 8 was checkered early after an accident in turn 9 required immediate attention.
