MUSEUM TRAVEL ALLIANCE Ancient & Modern Rome With Gina Borromeo, Curator of Ancient Art, RISD Museum April 7–14, 2019 MUSEUM TRAVEL ALLIANCE Dear Travelers and Friends, To Lord Byron, it was “the city of the soul.” Nathaniel Hawthorne called it “the city of all time.” Federico Fellini declared it “the most wonderful movie set in the world.” But to the ancients, it was Caput Mundi—literally, the capital of the world. Please join the Museum Travel Alliance next April for an in-depth exploration of the Eternal City of Rome. The Museum Travel Alliance (MTA) provides museums with the opportunity to offer their members and patrons high-end educational travel programming. Trips are available exclusively through MTA member museums and cosponsoring non-profit institutions. This journey is co-sponsored by the RISD Museum. Traveling with us on this program is curator Gina Borromeo, who oversees the Egyptian, Greek, Etruscan, and Roman collections at the museum. Discover lesser-known museums and neighborhoods, and enter magnificent palazzi and villas. Begin at the Roman Forum, epicenter of the ancient city. Take a sub rosa look at the Villa Borghese, and admire the contemporary masterpieces at the nearby National Gallery of Modern Art.
