SAKARYA UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL STUDENT EXAM (SAKARYA - YOS) GUIDE 1. GENERAL INFORMATION, BASIC PRINCIPLES AND RULES 1.1.Sakarya University International Student Exam (SAKARYA YOS) is an exam carried out by Sakarya University and taken by foreign or overseas students interested in studying at Sakarya University. The results of Sakarya YOS can be used by the candidate students to apply for Sakarya University or for other universities listing the Sakarya YOS as one of the accepted exams. SAKARYA YOS 2021 will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 15.00 according to local time in Turkey. As SAKARYA YOS will also be held in examination centers outside Turkey, the related local time exam hours will be announced on the official website of the university, http://yos.sakarya.edu.tr. It must be kept in mind that SAKARYA YOS will be carried out exactly at the same time in the all exam centers. 1.2. This guide covers the rules which have to be followed by the foreign or overseas candidates who would like to apply to study at Sakarya University for the academic year of 2021-2022. 1.3. The result certificate of Sakarya University YOS 2021 is valid until the last day of the following year after exam date. 1.4. Turkish and English are used as the official communication languages between Sakarya University and the candidates. 1.5. The applications for the exam can be done between 15th of March, 2021 – 15th of May, 2021 and can only be made on-line via the official web site. Sakarya University reserves the right to extend the deadlines. 1.6. After filling the the application form, your Application Number will automatically be sent to your e-mail address. 1.7. You are asked to pay the exam fee into the official bank account of Rectorate of Sakarya University by declaring your application number within the application period time. 1.8. Log in the system and upload the bank receipt image. 1.9. The applicants whose applications are approved must print the Examination Admission Document from their own Application Account. The applicants must have their Examination Admission Documents and their valid passports or ID cards with them to enter the exam. 1.10. The applicants who have lost their Examination Admission Document can reprint their documents by relogging to their own Application Account 1.11. The SAKARYA YOS result can only be used to apply for the quotas of Associate Degree and Undergraduate Degree Programs. It cannot be used in the transfer transactions of students studying at an institution of higher education or in the selection and placement transactions of those who would like to receive post-graduate education. 1.12. The applicants who have to travel for taking part in SAKARYA YOS are supposed to meet their own needs, such as residence permit, accommodation, subsistence etc. 1.13. The application fee paid by the applicants cannot be transferred to the following years. The application is considered to be invalid if the examination fee has not been paid. The exam payment of candidates will not be refunded in these situations: The candidates who give up the application even though they have paid, who pay more than one fee, whose application is deemed invalid, who did not not take the exam or who were not accepted or were excluded from the exam and who failed the exam and who pay a fee for a transaction that do not requires payments. 1.14. The rules declared in this guide can be changed if it is necessary only by the decisions of the legislative, executive and judicial bodies; the Higher Education Council and the Evaluation Board and Sakarya University (SAU) Executive Board and Senate. The procedure to be followed under these circumstances is to be determined by SAU. Actions regarding the issues not covered in this guide are to be taken in accordance with the decisions of SAU Senate. 1.15. The SAKARYA YOS exam guide will be avaliable only on-line and not be published or distributed. 2. APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS All the applications either from Turkey or abroad must be done through the following link: https://yos.sakarya.edu.tr/en/ The applications will be accepted only within the application period. After the placement according to the results of the SAKARYA YÖS exam, it is mandatory to meet the conditions stated in 2.1 in order to enroll to a program. The candidates who do not deliver the required documents during registration period can not enroll to Sakarya University. 2.1. The candidates who are in the last year of high school or graduated; a) The candidates who have foreign citizenship b) The candidates born as Turkish citizens and later permitted by the Ministry of the Interior of Turkey to leave Turkish citizenship and including their underage children who are registered in the document of leaving Turkish citizenship and who can indicate that they have this document relating to the Exercise of Given Rights according to the Turkish Nationality Law. (The 7th article of the Turkish Nationality Law numbered 5901 prescribes that “(1) an infant was born from the marriage of a mother or a father having Turkish citizenship inside or outside Turkey is a Turkish citizen”; applicants who would like to apply for the quotas of foreign admission should further review the Turkish Nationality Law.) c) The candidates who used to have a foreign citizenship but later have acquired Turkish citizenship/those who have a dual citizenship under these circumstances, d) i- The Turkish candidates who continued their secondary education (high school) abroad before 01/02/2013, and those who completed the last three years of their secondary education in a foreign country except TRNC. (including those who completed their secondary education in Turkish schools opened by the Turkish Ministry of Education in a foreign country except TRNC) ii- The candidates who started their secondary education (high school) abroad after 01/02/2013 and completed their secondary education in a foreign country except TRNC (including the candidates who completed their secondary education in Turkish schools in a foreign country except TRNC), e) The candidates who have TRNC citizenships, reside in TRNC and have completed their secondary education (high school) in TRNC and have GCE AL (The General Certificate of Education-Advanced Level) exam results and The applications of candidates, who have or will have GCE AL exam results by enrolling and studying at colleges and high schools in other countries between 2005-2010, are accepted. 2.2) Applications of candidates who meet the qualifications in this article are not accepted. a) The candidates who are citizens of the Republic of Turkey and have completed their secondary education (high school) in Turkey or in TRNC, b) The candidates who have TRNC citizenship (excluding those who have completed secondary education at TRNC high schools and have obtained GCE AL degree and the candidates who have or will have GCE AL degrees after registering in the colleges or high schools in other countries between 2005 and 2010), c) Dual citizens whose first citizenship is Turkish from birth, as prescribed in article 2.1./b of this guide (except those who fulfill the requirements in 2.1/d), d) Dual citizens who have TRNC citizenship (excluding those who have completed secondary education at TRNC high schools and have obtained GCE AL degree and those who have or will have GCE AL degrees by registering in the colleges or high schools in other countries between 2005 and 2010), e) The candidates who are Turkish citizens or have dual citizenship or those whose first citizenship is Turkish as prescribed in the article 2.1./b of this guide and have studied or are currently studying at foreign embassy schools or foreign high schools in Turkey. 3. APPLICATION PROCEDURE 3.1.The candidates must carefully fill in the Candidate Application Form at http://yos.sakarya.edu.tr during the application period and get the candidate number. 3.2. The candidates have to accurately and completely submit all the information requested in the on-line application form without modification or abbreviation. (including dual citizenship, nationality, blue card, passport, identity information) The candidates’ registrations having incomplete or incorrect information will be canceled even if the registration process has been completed. 3.3. The e-mail address required in the application form must belong to the applicant and every applicant must provide only one e-mail address. The e-mail address in question must not be used for correspondence or transactions on behalf of other applicants. 3.4. The digital version of the applicant’s self-photo must be attached to the relevant section on the application form. As this photo is going to be printed on the Examination Admission Document and the Examination Result Document, the photo must be taken in the last six months and from the front view, ensuring that the applicant is easily recognizable. The applicant must avoid making significant changes in his or her appearance in a way which can make him or her less recognizable on the exam day. It must be taken into consideration that if the Head of the Examination Hall finds difficulty in recognizing the identity of the applicant, s/he has the right to exempt the applicant from the examination. 3.5. The candidate number will be sent to the e-mail of the candidate who has completed and registered the application form. 3.6. The Applicant number can only be acquired once. The candidate number should carefully be kept by the candidate, as it will be required both for this exam and for all transactions that the candidate will have with Sakarya University.
