    SWATCH FIVB WORLD TOUR 2010 - FORO ITALICO GRAND SLAM I campioni del beach volley mondiale a Roma Torna a Roma il grande beach volley internazionale. Dopo l’Open maschile del maggio scorso, la Capitale è pronta ad accogliere i più forti giocatori del mondo impegnati nello Swatch FIVB World Tour - Foro Italico Grand Slam 2010. Quella che si terrà nel Parco del Foro Italico, dal 17 al 23 maggio prossimi, sarà una delle tappe principali della stagione, il terzo appuntamento del World Tour 2010 dopo gli Open di Brasilia e Shanghai ed il primo dei sei Grand Slam in programma quest’anno, cui seguiranno quelli di Mosca, Stavanger, Gstaad, Klagenfurt e Stare Jablonki. Un torneo maschile ed uno femminile con un montepremi complessivo di 600mila dollari, una vera e propria parata di stelle per un totale di ben 181 atleti (98 uomini e 83 donne) provenienti da 35 diversi Paesi. Tra i beachers che solcheranno la sabbia del Foro Italico ci saranno campionesse del calibro di Misty-May Treanor, medaglia d’oro a Pechino 2008, la sua compagna Nicole Branagh e le connazionali April Ross e Jennifer Kessy, campionesse del mondo in carica dopo la vittoria dello scorso anno a Stavanger sulle brasiliane Larissa-Juliana. Proprio quest’ultime saranno la coppia numero uno del tabellone principale della tappa capitolina, seguite dalle connazionali Talita-Antonelli. Di altissimo livello tecnico anche il torneo maschile, dove si daranno battaglia le coppie brasiliane che quest’anno hanno subìto notevoli cambiamenti: Alison-Emanuel, Harley-Pedro, Cunha-Thiago. Con loro gli olimpionici statunitensi Todd Rogers e Philip Dalhausser, teste di serie numero uno; i tedeschi Brink- Reckermann, campioni del mondo in carica e vincitori del loro primo torneo assieme proprio il maggio scorso nell’Open di Roma e i campioni d’Europa Nummerdor-Schuil.

Here are 2009 SWATCH SWATCH FIVB World Tour highlights. · The total prize money for 2009 was US$7.2-million. · The calendar featured 18 sites in 15 countries within three FIVB confederations (Asia, Europe and South America). · The 2009 calendar included 12 double gender events. · Italy (Rome) and Poland (Myslowice) hosted men’s only events. · Japan (Osaka), Korea (Seoul), Spain (Barcelona) and Thailand (Phuket) hosted women’s only events. · The 2009 SWATCH FIVB World Championships were held June 25-July 5 in Stavanger, Norway. It marked the fifth-time that a European country has hosted the event. · The 2009 calendar included four SWATCH-FIVB World Tour Grand Slam events with total prize money of $2.4- million.
