The Geographical Distribution of the Top 100 Arab Banks Arab banks play an important role in the global banking system due to their considerably large asset base and number. By the end of Q2 2015, data from the largest 100 Arab banks in terms of assets show that these banks had combined assets that amount to $2.87 trillion, with a deposit base of about $1.94 trillion, and a capital base of $314 billion. Moreover, they provided around $1.45 trillion in loans and advances to the economy. These 100 Arab banks are distributed among Arab countries as follows: 17 banks from the UAE, 12 Saudi banks, 10 banks from each of Qatar and Lebanon, 9 Kuwaiti banks, 8 banks from Egypt, 7 banks from both Morocco and Bahrain, 5 banks from Libya, 4 banks from each of Oman and Algeria, 3 Iraqi banks, 2 banks from Jordan, and 1 bank from each of Syria and Tunisia.
