In 1980, family members Theodore and Tom took over to continue the Shepard legacy in the Greater Rochester area. Sales Manager Gary Marble shares more about Shepard Ford and the auto industry. Q. What are the benefits of working with a local dealer versus buying online? We have cars and trucks on the lot to test drive and we’re able to discuss what the customers’ comforts and needs might be. In addition, we offer service and various packages after the sale. Q. How has Shepard changed its buying experience over time? We love that customers have the convenience of comparing cars online. Shepard Ford’s website provides auto shoppers with images and descriptions of the vehicles they can test drive, and potentially purchase, at our dealership. EVENTS Q. Thoughts on autonomous cars? We’re always looking at the future. I’m still waiting for cars that fly – I rememberThe & Jetsons when I was a young boy! Q. Favorite new car feature? Safety is the goal. Lane-Keeping System keeps the vehicle inside its lane, Blind Spot Information System detects vehicles in the bling spot when changing lanes monitoring, and Forward-Collision Warning alerts the driver to take action when a collision may be imminent. Q. What does Ford on a national level mean by expanding to be both an auto and a mobility company? Ford has been a long-time partner in the area of mobility. They have programs for people with disabilities to adapt vehicles to fit individual needs.
