The first stop of the tour awaits you in the Medeo Gorge, where in the wonderful mountains of Trans-Ili Ala-Tau the largest high mountain skating rink in the world is located as well as the huge dam, protecting the city from destructive mudflows formed on the tops of the western Tien Shan. Next destination is Chimbulak ski resort, located at an altitude of 2230 meters above sea level. Overnight in Almaty. 2nd Day • Breakfast at the hotel • Transfer to the Charyn Canyon • Excursion to the Charyn Canyon (3 hrs, 220 km) - trekking The canyon is situated on the Tian Shan’s spurs near the border with China. Charyn Canyon is a natural monument built from sedimentary rocks, which age is about 12 million years, and stretches for 154 kilometers along the valley of Charyn river. The most interesting and frequently visited tourist destination is so-called "Valley of Castles". The grove of relict species of ash, survived during the era of glaciation, preserved in the bosom of the canyon and another such grove is only in North America. Landscape diversity of Charyn canyon leads to the variety of flora and fauna. The park is the home of the annual music festival called “Almaty – my first love”. The concert is held in front of the semicircular colonnade shown in the images. The amphitheatre atmosphere is highlighted by the fountains and water features to the rear. The park is about 1.5 km from one end to the other with trees and habitats interspersed with features. Duration of the excursion – 1hr. • Excursion to the Big Almaty Lake On the height of more than 2500 meters above the sea level, amidst the majestic mountains of Tian Shan, Big Almaty Lake’s transparent surface glitters under the rays of sunshine. Many millions of years ago because of the regular powerful earthquake jolt, the mountains “became weaker” and a beautiful lake appeared in a crack-basin. Every year a lot of people rush to come here in order to view this indescribable beauty. An amazing combination of white "graying" of the mountains, the blinding sun, turquoise water of the lake, and the century-old green pine trees on the background of silence and air intoxicating by its freshness and purity causes a feeling of unreality and detachment. • Lunch at the restaurant • Falcon Show We offer you to visit the nursery of rare endangered species of birds "Sunkar" which is unique by its species composition and equipment. The nursery is the only one in the whole territory of Kazakhstan and during its activity raised 1060 birds and released 260 falcons Balobans out of the nature. By visiting falcon nursery you can admire the most beautiful birds, learn about their biological characteristics, and more than that, see the falcon show (from May to October). The trained birds take parts in that show and demonstrate hunting with a bird, getting food out of the water and other interesting things.
