The Heritage Herald July 2016 Volume 5: Issue 42 Number 83 Administrator’s Corner Treating Urinary Tract Infections You may be familiar with the term “Antibiotic Stewardship” or you may have only wit- nessed clinicians trying to be good stewards of holding back from ordering antibiotics the minute we “believe” someone has a “UTI”. We are hosting a brief informal educational ses- sion On Thursday, July 7th from 2:00- 3:00pm in the conference room. This class is given by a local URI student as well as our DNS, Barbara Langshaw-Soares. I urge you to take advantage of participating in this very valuable class. Not only will you hear more about the origins of a UTI but how the body changes and makes the elderly more susceptible to ob- taining them. Finally, you will learn why physicians no longer want to preventatively ad- minister antibiotics so quickly! Antibiotic use has caused “Super Bugs”! Come hear how you can protect yourself as well as your loved ones from the dangers of inappropriate use of antibiotics. I promise that you will walk away with valuable life information. Please call 231-2700 and ask for Jenney or Cheryl to RSVP. We have limited seating. -Gretchen Sechio WEDNESDAY FRIDAY JULY 20th JULY 15th 6:00 PM 10 am—3 pm MAIN PATIO P a g e 2 J U L Y 2 0 1 6 Helen N.
