  • The Great War and the Birth of the Communist Movement in Romania
THE GREAT WAR AND THE BIRTH OF THE COMMUNIST MOVEMENT IN ROMANIA Gheorghe ONIŞORU Ştefan cel Mare University of Suceava E-mail: [email protected] Rezumat: Marele Război şi naşterea mişcării comuniste în România. Abstract. The communist movement in Romania and the birth of the Communist Party in 1921 was a phenomenon strongly influenced by events at the end of the Great War.

The research explored the complex relations between state planning bodies, enterprises, and the managers. The research’s approach was multi-disciplinary drawing on industrial management, economics, organisation studies sociology, and political science. The research had also a consistent trans-disciplinary character because it aimed to create an over-arching perspective on Romanian industrialisation process. The approach employed in this study was the one labelled by Burrell & Morgan interpretivist. This means that author’s set of assumptions over society and social research lies on the subjective side of the philosophy of science dimension, and is characterised by an integrationist view over society.

ROUTE III Day I Arrival at the Bucharest airport Transfer from the airport to the hotel in Bucharest If time allows, city tour will be given Accommodation in the hotel and dinner at a restaurant in Bucharest Day II Bucuresti – Curtea de Arges – Cozia – Sibiu (300 Km) In the morning, departure to Curtea de Arges, the old capital of Wallachia; the city will be visited. Curtea de Arges Monastery, built in the 16th century by voivode Neagoe Basarab in place of the old, 14th century Christian Mitropoly of Tara Romaneasca, is considered one of the most beautiful religious buildings in Europe. During the reign of the first Romanian king, Carol I, the monastery was transformed into a royal necropolis. The legend of the beautiful monastery speaks over time about the spirit of the Romanian people. The church of Saint Nicholas was built in a byzantine style by the founder of Wallachia, Basarab I, in the middle of the 14th century. The preserved interior mural painting is also byzantine and has a great value because of its age. This church was initially the home of the Christian Mitropoly of Wallachia. Cozia Monastery was founded on the shore of Olt river at the end of the 14th century by the great Wallach vaivode, Mircea the Elder, whose tomb can be found here. Every since the early days of this holy place we can speak of it as a cultural focal point, with a monastic school having functioned here. The church is preserved in its original state, being one of the most beautiful medieval monuments in Romania.

  • The Great Unification and Disinformation
THE GREAT UNIFICATION AND DISINFORMATION Revealing Russian disinformation networks and active measures fuelling secessionism and border revisionism in Romania ACKNOWLEDGMENTS ACKNOWLEDGMENTS This paper is the summary of the results of an over a year-long research project covering the Kremlin’s and pro-Kremlin actors’ disinformation campaigns and active measures related to territorial revisionism in six countries – Poland, Slovakia, Ukraine, Hungary, Romania and Serbia – during a period of heightened nationalism and historical revisionism involving World War I commemorations between 1 January 2018 and 15 April 2020. Political Capital has assessed in numerous studies how the Kremlin transformed European far-right parties and extremist organisations harbouring age-old territorial or other grievances against other countries into pro-Russian political assets since the early 2000s. In this study, we set out to understand the inner workings of “revisionist” disinformation campaigns as tools of destabilisation on a local and regional level. The research utilised a novel methodology that combined qualitative content-analysis with the analysis of networks and social media statistics to reveal communication strategies and the dissemination of revisionist ideas in Central-Eastern Europe. For more information on the project, please visit our thematic website. We are grateful to the authors listed below. We are also grateful to the Open Information Partnership, particularly Tom Southern and Seraphina Hintze, for their insights, cooperation and support for this research project. We would like to thank Dr. Vivian Walker, the executive director of the United States Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy for her patient guidance and useful critiques of the studies and the research methodology.

  • The Romanian-Russian Relations and the New Linguistic Hegemony: Towards Natural and Necessary Synergies
E-ISSN 2281-4612 Academic Journal of Vol 6 No 2 S1 ISSN 2281-3993 Interdisciplinary Studies July 2017 Research Article © 2018 Iancu Miruna Mădălina. This is an open access article licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs License (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/). The Romanian-Russian Relations and the New Linguistic Hegemony: Towards Natural and Necessary Synergies Iancu Miruna Mădălina PhD, Faculty of History and Philosophy, Babeş-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca, Romania Doi: 10.2478/ajis-2018-0030 Abstract It is certainly and without fail that through a simple hovering over the present state of relations between Romania and the Russian Federation, the factual balance is not an encouraging one, the state of mind of the bilateral register being continuously dominated by the same issue: ,,history is a ballast, and the frame in which the two states perceive each other has been fixed a long time ago, clogged and jammed by momentarily political statements, and deprived of any heuristic nuances” (Dungaciu, Tănăsescu, 2013). Therefore and within such optics, based on an undeniable belief that a heuristic approach of the bilateral dimension is an imperative, the present paper aims to provide a first concrete solution likely to create the critical mass necessary to achieve a complex regeneration process of normalizing Romania's relations with its neighbor to the East. Circumscribed to such a sphere of interest, the present paper assumes the fact that beyond the overwhelming historical legacy related to the bilateral register and implicitly, beyond its problematic receipt, the complex process of normalizing the relations between Romanian and the Russian Federation is unavoidably obstructed by an entire arsenal of terms such as ,, reset”, ,,thaw”, ,,recovery”, ,,blocking”, terms which maintain and support a certain negative perception, thus certifying the fact that it prevails a ,,freeze”, a ,,cooling” and an impediment in the bilateral dimension.

  • Archdeacon Sebastian Barbu-Bucur Phd – Researcher of the Byzantine Musical Tradition Across the Romanian Territory
DOI: 10.2478/ajm-2018-0004 Artes. Journal of Musicology no. 17-18 2018 89-101 Archdeacon Sebastian Barbu-Bucur PhD – Researcher of the Byzantine Musical Tradition across the Romanian Territory ELENA CHIRCEV “Gheorghe Dima” Music Academy of Cluj-Napoca ROMANIA∗ Abstract: Professor Archdeacon Sebastian Babu-Bucur PhD is one of the most prominent representatives of Romanian Byzantology with a tireless activity spreading throughout different fields – research, psalmic musical creation, teaching, performing. Our study focuses briefly on several of the researcher’s achievements, some of his main concerns having been the Romanianisation process of the church chant in the 18th century and the manuscripts elaborated by Romanians. We highlighted the merits of the Byzantinist musicologist who contributed to the discovery of most of the Romanian manuscript no. 61 in the Romanian Academy Library, who tracked down and catalogued over 250 Romanian manuscripts to be found in the libraries from Mount Athos, who demonstrated through documenta and transcripta editions the significance of the activity of various Romanian psalm readers whose contribution to the translation of chants in Romanian had been, up to that moment, almost unknown. Archdeacon Sebastian Babu-Bucur’s tireless work as a researcher of Byzantine music contributes to a better knowledge and understanding of the evolution of this type of music in the 18th and the 19th century and leads the way towards new investigations in the years to come. Keywords: Filothei, Ghelasie, Mihalache, Mount Athos, the Romanianisation process. 1. Introduction Archdeacon Professor Sebastian Barbu-Bucur PhD is one of the most renowned representatives of the Romanian byzantine musicology of the second half of the 20th century and of the early 21st century.
