We had a great experience over Spring Break last year in Arizona but we were not able to schedule enough games against Holiday Greetings to you and your family. Taran, a senior first baseman from Hermantown, MN will begin his second term as team captain. Last season he led the Mavericks in homeruns (7), and finished second in runs Baseball Office batted in (26), and slugging percentage (.500). The camp is structured to provide individuals in-depth instruction and with 41 runs batted in analysis on hitting and/or pitching. March 15 a Prospect Camp will be offered for individuals and 14 steals en route to between the ages of 16-18 years of age. General Reminders/Ground Rules • Teams will receive their Regional Tournament participation pins prior to their first game in the tournament. • The tournament director will provide line up cards for all games. Line ups for the day’s games must be handed in at the Tournament Office (press box) at least two hours before the game is scheduled to start. Line ups do not become official until handed to the umpire before the game. • For every game, the HOME and VISITOR team designation shall be determined by a coin toss conducted by a tournament staff member with the team manager or his/her designee. Coin flips for games 1-5 will be conducted at the conclusion of this afternoon’s briefing. For games 6- 22, coin flips will be conducted 15 minutes after the second team has been determined. The managers should meet behind the scorer’s booth (behind backstop of D17). If the manger is not present at the designated time, the Tournament Director or Assistant Tournament director will act on his behalf. The home team shall occupy the third base dugout. • Teams may access the playing field one hour before the scheduled game time to loosen up in the outfield. No batted balls by players or coaches during this time in the outfield. If you desire additional warm up time, you will need to use the practice field (both teams will need to share the field). Each team will have 8 minutes of infield practice, beginning about 35 minutes before the start of the game, starting with the home team.

    US BALLPARK RULES SPIKES ARE NOT ALLOWED at US Baseball Park. Molded Cleats or Turf Shoes must be worn at this venue. If a player is caught, he will be removed from that game. If a player is caught a second time or a second player on that team is caught the coach and player will be removed from that game. Any further violations could be cause for dismissal from the event. OUTSIDE TUMBLERS, COOLERS, FOOD AND DRINKS ARE NOT ALLOWED. Coolers for teams and players are allowed but must stay in the dugout. From car to dugout only. Coolers will be removed if outside the dugout area. No outside food is allowed inside the park, however concessions will be available at the complex. NO SUNFLOWER SEEDS, GUM, TOBACCO, OR FOOD ON THE FIELD. Food and gum must be kept outside the playing field and is not allowed in the dugout. Sunflower seeds and tobacco are not allowed inside US Baseball Park under any conditions. NO PETS INSIDE THE PARK. No pets will be allowed inside US Baseball Park, with the exception of service animals. All service animals must have certification. Service animals must remain on a leash at all times. NO VIOLENCE OR FOUL LANGUAGE is allowed at US Baseball Park. The Park is a friendly family environment and physical interactions and abusive language will not be tolerated. Anyone who violates this rule will be asked to leave. NO BICYCLES, ROLLERBLADE, SCOOTERS, OR SKATEBOARDS. Our goal is to keep everyone safe while enjoying the game of baseball. If a spectator is caught using one of these they will be asked to remove the equipment from the property.

No income and pitching mound expense coming up. 30 blast were purchased by the Dugout club and will be reimbursed by MBSC. 2. Expenditure approval - Voting members (expenses sent out before meeting) ​ Camp t-shirts Helmets baseball helmets for future - if needed ​ ​ Varsity Poster & Senior banners - all 3 items approved unanimously Brent will put together a proposal to expand the dugout in March. May have an expense with that. If the field changes, due to current construction, we won’t go forward. This expansion would add a railing with netting and redo concrete in the dugout and expand the current dugout. This will be a substantial expense, outline and estimate to follow before voting. 2021 Senior Gifts (already approved) ​ 3. Cardinals Strike Out Cancer Update - Susan Smith and Tim Cleary ​ Had their first meeting January 19th, working on sponsors, t-shirts and hats. Some people will be honored during the game, Levi (MHS sophomore) will be the Middleton honoree. Asking all members to reach out to businesses that may be interested or provide this information to Tim or Susan so someone can follow up regarding sponsorship/donations. Save the date - June 10th - Middleton to host. 4. Fundraising Update - ​ Youth Tournament - (Kurt Paulsen) Gary Gmur provided an update - a few teams already signed up. There is a tab for the tournament info on the MSBC website. Spring Youth Camp - Brent Jorgensen - Varsity kids will work, 25 kids per field.

    Player / Machine Pitch Transition 4th & 5th Grade General Game Rules 1. All players will bat, whether they are playing in the field or not. 2. An inning will consist of 3 outs, 5 runs or a team batting through their line up, which ever comes first. (If one team has more players, the team with the least number of players bats the same number of players as the team with more). 3. Bats must be kept within the dugout. There is no on-deck area. Under no circumstances, should the players be swinging the bats near the dugout or inside the dugout. 4. All players that are not batting must stay in the dugout. 5. One coach should be in the dugout at all times. 6. No infield practice before the first game or in between games. 7. Games are 6 innings or no new inning can begin after 1 hour and 30 minutes. Games CAN end in a tie. 8. Rotation of players: we suggest that all team members play every position at some point in the season to determine where they are best suited. 9. An 8 player minimum is required to field a team. You can pick up players from other Cedarburg fall ball teams of the same age. If you pick up players from another team, they can only play in the outfield and they will bat at the end of the batting order. 10. There is a 10 run rule. If the home team is ahead by 10 or more runs after 3 ½ innings (this rule applies for any time thereafter 3 ½ innings) they don’t bat in the bottom of the 4th inning.

It’s especially tough in the 21st century with pitchers working on four days’ rest and getting 35 or fewer starts. But it wasn’t a given in the mid-20th cen- tury when a bigger strike zone, no DH and four-man rotations increased the odds of a 20-win season for a capable starter. Some of the best-known Sox pitchers of modern times have not won 20 while working on the South Side – Mark Buehrle, Tommy John, Joel Horlen. Instead, some surprising names reached that pitching bench- mark like Ray Herbert, Esteban Loaiza and Jim Kaat. Herbert connects to the great Sox pitching staff of the 1960s. “Excellent” is the word that best describes a group that lead the American League in ERA Ray Herbert warming up at Comiskey Park during in four of five seasons between 1963 his surprise 20-win season in 1962 .
