CTA Carriers US DOT Carriers
CTA Carriers The Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) has defined the application and disclosure of interline baggage rules for travel to or from Canada for tickets issued on or after 1 April 2015. The CTA website offers a list of carriers filing tariffs with the CTA at https://www.otc-cta.gc.ca/eng/carriers-who-file-tariffs-agency. US DOT Carriers The following is a list of carriers that currently file general rule tariffs applicable for travel to/from the United States. This list should be used by subscribers of ATPCO’s Baggage product for determining baggage selection rules for travel to/from the United States. For international journeys to/from the United States, the first marketing carrier’s rules apply. The marketing carrier selected must file general rules tariffs to/from the United States. Systems and data providers should maintain a list based on the carriers listed below to determine whether the first marketing carrier on the journey files tariffs (US DOT carrier). Montenegro Guidebook
MONTENEGRO PREFACE Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro, lies in a broad plain crossed by five rivers and surrounded by mountains, just 20 kilometers from the Albanian border. The city has a population of around 180,000 people. Bombed into rubble during World War II, Podgorica was rebuilt into a modern urban center, with high-rise apartment buildings and new office and shopping developments. While the latest Balkan war had a low impact on the physical structures, the economic sanctions had a devastating effect on employment and infrastructure. With the help of foreign investment, urban renewal is evident throughout the city, but much of it may still appear run down. Podgorica has a European-style town center with a pedestrian- only walking street (mall) and an assortment of restaurants, cafes, and boutiques. To many, its principal attraction is as a base for the exploration of Montenegro’s natural beauty, with mountains and wild countryside all around and the stunning Adriatic coastline less than an hour away. This is a mountainous region with barren moorlands and virgin forests, with fast-flowing rivers and picturesque lakes; Skadar Lake in particular is of ecological significance. The coastline is known for its sandy beaches and dramatic coves: for example, Kotor – the city that is protected by UNESCO and the wonderful Cathedral of Saint Typhoon; the unique baroque Perast; Saint George and Our Lady of the Rock islands – all locations that tell a story of a lasting civilization and the wealth of the most wonderful bay in the world. The area around the city of Kotor is a UNESCO World Heritage site for its natural beauty and historic significance. -

How State Aid Control Grounded Another Flag Carrier: the Case of Montenegro Airlines
How State Aid Control Grounded Another Flag Carrier: The Case of Montenegro Airlines Kluwer Competition Law Blog March 3, 2021 Dragan Gajin (Doklestic Repic & Gajin) Please refer to this post as: Dragan Gajin, ‘How State Aid Control Grounded Another Flag Carrier: The Case of Montenegro Airlines’, Kluwer Competition Law Blog, March 3 2021, http://competitionlawblog.kluwercompetitionlaw.com/2021/03/03/how-state-aid-control-grounded-another-flag -carrier-the-case-of-montenegro-airlines/ Amidst a never-ending stream of news related to COVID-19, it went somewhat under the radar that another European flag carrier airline has been grounded – Montenegro Airlines. The halt of operations of the airline up came as a result of the inability of the government to further subsidize the loss-making carrier, due to state aid rules. What is the story behind this? State aid control in Montenegro: Towards the EU model While not in the EU, Montenegro has state aid legislation based on the EU model, with substantive rules virtually a copy of the EU state aid rules. In addition, Montenegro is a party to theStabilization and Association Agreement with the EU, which prohibits distortive state aid which may affect trade between the Balkan country and the EU. The EU context is important for Montenegro in another way – the manner in which Montenegro is applying its state aid legislation is under constant review by the European Commission, in the context of Montenegro’s accession to the EU. This means that Montenegro is both legally and politically bound to dutifully implementing state aid control in accordance with the EU standards. -
