Northwell Health Department of Cardiology 2019 Highlights Message from the Chair Jeffrey T. Kuvin, MD, FACC, FAHA Northwell Cardiology, a premier clinical and academic service line, is comprised of hospital-based faculty, a network of community providers, and many other multi-disciplinary care givers. We deliver team-based care, from preventive strategies to advanced techniques, for acute and chronic cardiovascular illnesses. Northwell Cardiology continues to expand, with approximately 250 cardiologists practicing at 80 sites. The Sandra Atlas Bass Heart Hospital at North Shore University Hospital serves as the quaternary care cardiac center and enjoys strong alignment with other system hospitals, including Huntington, Lenox Hill, Long Island Jewish, Peconic Bay, Southside, and Staten Island. Northwell Cardiologists strive to ensure high quality, compassionate care while maintaining a focus on innovation, research and education. Major clinical programs include critical care, electrophysiology, heart failure, imaging, interventional and structural, prevention, vascular, and women’s heart disease. In addition, we have developed centers of excellence in areas such as advanced heart failure, atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia, device lead management, cardio-obstetrics, cardio-oncology, genomics and precision medicine, and valvular heart disease, among others. The Departments of Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery work together seamlessly to provide options for patients. Northwell is a dynamic place to practice with a true dedication to the academic mission. Jeffrey T. Kuvin, MD is the Chair of the Department of Cardiology and Professor at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, Chair of Cardiology at North Shore University and Long Island Jewish Hospitals, Co-Director of the Sandra Atlas Bass Heart Hospital at North Shore University Hospital, and Senior Vice President of Cardiology at Northwell Health, Central and Eastern Regions.
