A little over a year ago, the arrival of a new world threat was being announced. A threat that forced us to stop everything and stay at home in order to protect ourselves and our loved ones. This great threat came in the form of a small virus, COVID-19. As scientists and doctors worked around the clock to research more about the virus’s behavior, possible treatments and vaccines, the economy and society was forced to adapt and search for alternatives, using technology in order to continue to move forward. This included South American football. Matches and tournaments were postponed. Congresses, workshops, and meetings went from being in person to virtual. And later on, when certain restrictions became more flexible, we adopted new, stricter protocols to ORDINARY help us protect the health of our players and work teams, but that would allow us to continue on and restart the match. Today, we know a great deal more about the virus that causes COVID-19. CONGRESS 2021 We have better weapons to face and prevent it. And although we are aware of the fact that we cannot let our guard down, we also know that football’s return has been a significant, calming balm to overcome such difficult times. This year, in order to keep protecting the South American football family’s health, we decided to hold the CONMEBOL’s Ordinary Congress, this time in its 74th edition, virtually once again, via teleconference, from our 2020 2020 l l headquarters in Luque, Paraguay on March 2021.
